Trixxie the Trekker, forerunner to the 4runner

Well i figured id start a build thread for my baby.. its an 1981 Toyota Trekker... if you dont know what it is... its a Toyota truck with a fiber glass shell and bed... before 4runners were made...
Only 1500 of them were made by Winnebago...
Here is a single teaser shot...i will up date this soon from a pc..

hmmmmm :suspicious:.....I don't know much about the trekkers... but arn't they classified more as pickup trucks? Classified as a SR5 or deluxe models originally by VIN number? They are similar but not really a "4runner"... but I could be wrong. :suspicious:

i'm just curious that's all...

They are just pickups without beds that were sent to Winnebago to get the rear of the cab hacked off and custom back portion fitted to make it a pass through cab. I am quite sure there were still registered and titled as pickups though. Atleast the tan one I went to look at locally a few months ago was titled as a pickup anyways.

Btw the picture isn't showing up atleast for me anyways.

Exactly this was a trial to a mini suv by Toyota... they are rare.. and slacker has one of the cleanest ones. I know its not a 4runner by title.. but its before the 4runner was even made... i had a 3rd gen that i have a had built.. but since i stay around thease parts figured this be the best section to post it up...
Its more a rockcrawler now... but im planning on making it more streerable down the road..
 
Glad to see you are back Reno and nice find on the Trekker! Can't wait to see pictures and especially on the trail!
 
A lot.. It's already got duals... TG springs SCS wheels custom rear bumper and sliders... Have fj80 front axle and t100 rear.. And basically clean it all up!!
 
I think I know where you live...,you seen that white limo with Vice on the side? That's my GFs.. She owns that salon in the village.. I've driven by ur place a few times.. I was gonna stop and tag ur runner with a sticker but I ran out of time last time I was there... Lol

I also have new fenders.... Gonna make a proper front bumper... Paint.. Redo the interior... Clean up so,e fab work I did super quick to make it to last years MCR round up...Vin hooked me up on some stealth 6s for her.. I have a full spare.. I'll be making rear tire carrier... And hopefully a 3rz swap when I'm not working on my other truck...
 
Here is an update or two..
Been working on other stuff but finally got the t100 rear end in and the fj80 front.. Also hot me a set of hellfire knuckles... Hella stoked on these..
