Trouble code p1135

How did it go with the Denso 234-9002 as I ordered the same last night for my T4R 2001 which did have the P1135 code?

I have a '99 3.4L Cali Spec 4runner I bought 3 years ago in Pennsylvania. Been running it with the CEL throwing P0125 & P1135 ever since with no problems and good gas mileage (probably clogging my cats though). I just ordered the denso sensor so I'll be sure to update wether or not it works for me.

P1135

02 4runner, getting P1135 code but I question because of how the truck is acting. Runs great until it warms up, then it acts like it is running out of gas but only when excellerating or going up a hill. Any help or ideas will be helpful. I've already changed the fuel pump and fuel filter without success.

Thanks

What's your question? P1135 means the heater on your A/F sensor is kaput, rendering your A/F sensor useless. Truck runs fine warming up because it stays in open loop mode, where the A/F sensor has no role in timing/fuel mix adjustments by the ECU. Once warm, it switches to closed loop and the FUBAR'ed sensor makes it run like crap. So of course changing the pump and filter was useless.

Go to Oxygen / AFR Sensors - Underdog Racing Development and get the Denso part number for your A/F sensor and then buy it on Amazon (usually the best deal) or URD or Rockauto. Swap it in and problem solved.

Hi all. My dad's 2002 4Runner has the CEL, VSC And TRAC lights on. Scanguage says code p1135. I replaced the AFR sensor and disconnected the positive terminal on the batter for a few minutes. Lights came back on. I tried resetting the VSC system by shorting the E1 and TS terminals on the diagnostic port (using this link) https://mike-thomson.com/blog/?p=1143

Lights turned off, but came back on. Cleared the codes via the scanguage, lights come back on.

Any idea what's happening? I keep throwing code p1135 even with a brand new AFR sensor.

Did you ever find a solution to your P1135 code?

Yes, that code disables your skid control ECU. Have you checked the heater circuit to the sensor at the connector for voltage. Also check other associated wires to connector. With your scan gauge if it reads live data watch the up/downstream signals to confirm you've corrected the problem. This will also tell you the condition of your cats. A plugged red hot cat can reek havoc and burn lots of sh1t up. From sensor wiring all the way to cracked heads and gaskets. Not to mention destroy your a/f and cake the engine up.

Been a long time, but I'm pretty sure I remember how we fixed this. I believe there are AFR sensors and O2 sensors, and I replaced the one with the other. Got the correct part and plugged it in - all works fine. And it's still running fine at 21 yrs old.

The A/F sensors and O2 sensors have different plugs, so that mistake took a little bit of talent.

:iagree: I am pretty talented.

It was like plugging a 2 prong plug into a 3 prong outlet. I didn't have to modify anything or I definitely would've stopped.
