TRS Morimoto LED Fogs or Rigid SAE Fogs?

Does anyone have any experience between the two ? I retrofitted my low beam projectors to HID and now I want to upgrade my fogs because the halogen output and color is meh. I was comparing the TRS morimoto LED ( 2400 lumens) and Rigid Dually SAE lights ( 1760 lumens) and both have stellar reviews from manyl forums but since the TRS has a 4th of July sale they are 1/2 the price and not sure if putting my extra $$ is really worth it for just fog lights. I have bought lights based on lumen ratings and I don't really tryst them all that much honestly. I have links to the two kits below thanks for your help.

I have the TRS ones. They are amazing! I'm away for work right now or I'd get y'all some pictures. They are much brighter than stock. About 4500-5000k in color and throw light very wide and pretty damn far. By far one of the best investments I've made. Better than the money I spent for the low beam HIDs if that tells you anything.

I got the TRS...bright as hell! Not sure about the rigids but I'm sure those are bright as well, but for the money I'd go with TRS, they are just fog lights after all, and TRS are very bright.

They are but with the July 4th sale there are about $150ish depending on film.

They have a promo code TENOFF for 10% off and free shipping. Most of the sites I was looking for that carry the XB fogs would change me and arm and a leg for shipping to Hawaiʻi.

They are but with the July 4th sale there are about $150ish depending on film.

I just got my TRS fogs in the mail a couple days ago, and I went with the yellow film to try. I received my HID low beam upgrades from them today, along with their new 2 Stroke leds for drl/high beams.

Unfortunately I'm on a ship and won't be home til the 13th. But i'll post pics as soon as they're all installed.

I have the Xb LED lights and I love them. They Are very bright and the spread pattern is very wide. I can't speak for the rigids but from what I seen they are very bright as well. I think it all comes down personal preference and how much you want to spend. The Xb leds have a glass lens and look like they could be factory equipped. The rigids on the other hand appear to be out of place becasue you are fitting a square light in a round hole. I'm sure others would disagree with me on the rigids but that's just how I feel.

When I ordered my fogs and hid's from trs shipping to the B.I. was only $ 20.

I have the retrofit low beams, they are of the 55w variety. Those are as bright as my high beams. Are the trs fog lights sealed? Just in case they end up under water lol.

Wow that's insane! Do you feel that color of the LEDs works well as opposed to yellow film or cover to cut through fog?

Not quite sure yet as we don't get any fog ever in AZ. I think they would do good they are aim pretty low. i don't think the colored lenses would fit but some yellow film would probably work good.

My opinion is to go with the Morimoto units if you want fog lights (to use for messy weather). They are very bright and produce a very wide pattern which is good. They are also only really meant to give a little bit of lower/foreground visibility at slower speeds. At highway speeds, all actual fog lights are useless compared to your low beams or high beams (and the increased foreground lighting may actual reduce your long-distance vision as well at higher speeds). If you're doing this for color-matching purposes (which I would assume since you are probably over-using your fogs based on your comments), I'd just look at bulbs instead of new housings.

Morimoto is ~half the price compared to Rigid SAE/DOT fogs, plus it is actually round for the round fog holes in the bumper. That last one may be an aesthetic thing, but I'm not a fan of the square light in a round hole.

OP: you're absolutely right on not trusting manufacturer-published lumens/lux/ratings/etc. For lighting, there are no industry standards for the data, so it is always going to be an apples to oranges comparison.

Now, if you want high-speed lighting (auxiliary driving lights), regular Rigid pods might be a good idea. But those should, obviously, only be used when appropriate to use high beams (open stretch, no traffic, etc.). Even mounted low on the bumper, regular Rigid pods would be great for that purpose - at least for the street (and off-road when not covered in mud/dirt/etc).

I had both, but prefer the Rigid's but that's just me. Both are honestly good, the TRS produce a tad wider than Rigid's but the Rigid's produce brighter output. Some people like the TRS for the OEM look, but I like the Rigid's for a more roughed look. Overall, you can't go wrong with both to be honest.

Looking forward to seeing this combo. I feel that regular LEDs create too much glare during major snow storms. I really like the yellow lamin-x but to be honest I have not put them through a test.

I'll post pics as soon as they're installed. Probably won't be able to do it til this coming weekend though as I work away from home for weeks at a time. But with the yellow lamin-x, I figured I'd try it and if I didn't like it, could always peel it off. I'm using it more for heavy rain in Florida, but I grew up in Maine so I know where you're coming from.

I don't have any better photos, nor can I explain why I felt this was worth taking, but you can see they have a very precise beam which results in a very obvious cutoff with my Xenon Depot HIDs. I wish I had gone with the 4500k Morimoto kit because that matches the white LED fogs way better. My low beam kit is the 5000k Xenon Depot kit, which looks noticeably blue compared to the fogs as well as the 4500k Morimoto kit I installed in my friend's Taco.
