Truck turning off after disconnecting/reconnecting battery

So I disconnected the negative cable on battery, reconnected it, cranked up the 4Runner, and it turned back off.

Cranked up the 4Runner again, and works just fine.


It always does this no matter how long I have the battery’s negative cable disconnected. I left the positive on. One time had it off for less than a minute.


I disconnected the negative cable because I was messing with the dash and didn’t want the airbag to deploy.


Any ideas to explain this phenomenon? After that second start it’s not like anything went wrong.

I checked all fuses, tried all buttons on the interior and they all work. It’s just strange!

Normal. The ECU has to relearn a few things after a battery disconnect and shutting the truck down, or a rough idle, are common as it does that.

Yup. Mine did the same thing too. It’s normal.
