Hey fellas, it's been awhile since I've posted. The long and the short is a tree fell on my 2004 4th gen, and after getting everything settled I ended up with a 2003 V8 in Imperial Jade Mica last year.
The suspension on my 2003 is pretty tired (read: completely worn out), so I bought one from a buddy for a real reasonable price. It's off of his 2007 FJ, and was pulled basically right out of the dealer lot (has maybe 1000 mi on it max) when he took it to have his Fox Racing setup installed with his lift and tires and all that.
It sat in his shed for a few years, so it's slightly dusty, but the parts are solid and have only minor scrapes here or there and a tiny bit of surface rust on the exposed metal of the mounts, but nothing keeping them from being reliable.
The situation is this:
I have all 4 corners of the suspension, I have the front struts (with coils on-board), the rear shocks and the rear coils. My problem is that I do not have the time or capability on my end to get it installed. I've got no garage where I live now and most of my tools were stolen when I moved recently; still pissed about that, but that's another story.
I have been calling around 4wd shops here in Washington State and have gotten everything from "I won't touch that, used parts. Don't care if they're in beautiful shape." to "$600 installed, plus big bucks if it's not fitting properly and takes extra time". Personally, I think this is somewhat ridiculous, but it is what it is, they want me to buy their stuff. I know all about liability and all that, but seriously. I am all for supporting my local shops, and I appreciate the good work they do, but getting gouged is getting gouged.
My question is, do any of you Washington State guys know if there is a decent place in western Washington that I can count on to do this install? I have called several, but perhaps I have missed a few of the best.
I don't expect it to be free, but man, $600 seems fairly steep for something I could do in an afternoon if circumstances were ideal, and I dunno why some of these guys are so afraid to do the work, I'd sign a waver or whatever, I don't even care, I know the parts are legit.
