Trying to remove stubborn #74 bulbs. Am I alone here?

trying to replace console lights. More specifically, cigarette lighter ring, and ashtray #74 bulbs. Has anyone come up with a good way of extricating them from their sockets? Thanks in advance.

Same here...

Wiggle them a bunch and they eventually will come loose. Use latex gloves for grip.
If not try a little WD-40. just at the base. have some paper towels for overspray and dripping. Be sure and blow out all the WD-40 before you put in the new bulb. I used an air gun from my compressor. Double-up on paper towels.

UPDATE: I was able to grip and wiggle the ashtray, key ring, shifter and glove box bulbs loose with a latex glove, thanks [MENTION=135134]pauldub[/MENTION] and the rest of the team for the tips. After a bit more research I found that the lighter bulb is fixed to the prongs for the wiring and probably shouldn't be removed. I have seen colored bulb covers like the stock green ones. I am going to search some non-LED sites for amber covers of that size. The rest were a snap to replace, just have to get the polarity right.

Try looking at the bottom of this page for those silicone bulb covers.

On a side note, you can remove the cigarette bulb but it's a whole plastic bodied bulb asy that unclips like an electrical connection. I was going to solder in an LED where the bulb is but it just didn't seem worth the effort

Agreed, Almost not worth the effort. I had removed the stock green covers long ago, so none of the lights are a total eyesore paired to the Amber replacements. The lighter bulb will be fixed eventually because it bugs me, just not paramount. Like the tag on a shirt collar. I'll try Autolumination and some other sites as well, Thanks for the help. The Climate Control is doing swell! Of course that's no surprise, I suppose. I'm just not used to it performing so well!!
 
Yeah the lighter ring is not replaceable you have to order the housing around it. I found out the hard way when I was perusing through the catalog here at work.
