Well, I've just got my lift all figured out. So as long as nothing else gets in the way I should be good for doing something on the 23rd! I'm so itching to have some fun! I was quite disappointed by the rain we had last week, with the ground being so damned dry, it dried to quickly for me to go sloshing in any mud!

How about Box Canyon (near Florence)? I think you need a permit for State Trust Land for part of the trail (not a big deal to get, I have one).

You can get individual permits or family permits (good for 2 adults per vehicle). It is $15 and $20 respectively. You have to send off to Phoenix for it. It took less than a week for me to get mine.

We can do something that isn't on State Trust Land this weekend. It would be lame to exclude people (especially the guy who suggested the trip!).

Where else can we go? I hear Montana Mountain is nice, but it is further off.

Idk about any mild rides but I've heard chiva falls isn't to bad.

I believe I've read Chiva has an alternate route that isn't so bad. I've been through the bad section on an ATV and don't know that I want to risk it right now (plan to drive/move to Tennessee in December).

I'm fairly confident I could get through the tough spot known as The Crack or Three Feathers (4Runner up the Crack at Three feathers - YouTube). However, I *HAVE* to drive mine Tucson-Murfreesboro in late-Nov/early-Dec. Can't take undue risk at this time.

Doing some research, mostly at Experience AZ Chiva Falls, and found this:
"After enjoying the falls, retrace your path to the T-intersection (waypoint 006). Taking a left here takes you back to the original trailhead. Going straight on FR 4417 takes you on a different, slightly longer and easier way out (the middle way which is about 2.75 miles to Redington Rd). I like to go straight. At waypoint 014 there will be a road to the right (FR 4424 this also leads out to Redington Rd). For now, continue straight until you reach Redington Rd. (waypoint 015)."

It's a tad difficult to follow the text the first time reading it, but as I look at it and compare to the maps at Experience AZ Chiva Falls Maps they're saying they suggest the easier route out along FR4417 from WPT006 through WPT014 to WPT015 putting you back on Redington Road. As The Crack/Three Feathers isn't far off Redington Rd, there's no reason we couldn't look it over in person and decide to avoid it by retracing to Redington Rd and going in at WPT015 on FR4417.

There's a Circle K on the SW corner of Speedway/Houghton that would make a good starting point. How early can we get going?
