I love your 4runner. I've been researching lifts and just today decided to go with a Revtek kit. I'm still undecided on tires. I really like the looks of the AT KOs but the Revos are a bit cheaper. I'm just wondering how durable the Revos are when off-roading.

In the end, I'll probably end up with the same setup as you. I'll probably wait until it gets warmer to do the upgrades. I still have a few things lying around that I need to install but I'm a wimp when it comes to working in freezing weather. Last night it was about 38deg F so I decided to put air in my tires. I've been driving around with the TPS light on for a while. I even got the spare!

Thanks! I've pretty much got it right where I want it to be on the big mods. There were only two kits out when I bought my lift and the Revtek was a little higher and put my clearance almost exactly to the clearance my stock 3rd GEN had so I did the RevTek. I've not been sorry.

I had the BFG's before and strongly considered trying the Revos this time. I think they're BOTH good tires. I'd read comments from both sets of owners since around 1999 and "for the type of wheeling I do" I wanted the extra ply in the sidewall for rock protection. They also have a rim protector when you're aired down and they have a square sidewall rather than the rounded corner of the Revo. The other big thing that swung me was the number of miles each group was getting out of a set. The BFG folks are getting 10 -15K more than the Revo folks. Read old threads here and on Yotatech, and 4x4wire and you'll see what I mean. I also like the "look" of the BFG over the Revo but that's just me.

I'm not trying to sway anyone, just give the reasons for the choices I made and why.

Cold weather is rough but we've been down around 10 - 14F several times for many days in the last several weeks so when its been back into the 40's I'm outside washing with the hose and wearing flip flops. (don't want to get me shoes wet)

I've been through Sulphur and Bartlesville area many times. I especially enjoyed the Remington museum in 'Wollerock', check the spelling.

That is a GREAT part of the country to have as a backyard. The Ozark foothills are KA!

You ever see the Boggy Creek boogey man? It lives, supposedly, in that area of SE OK.

LOL, Boggy Creek is a creek and old train depot. Now it's just a state park (Boggy Depot State Park) near Atoka, OK. Atoka is not all that far from where I was wheeling. I used to Deer hunt in Atoka. I'm sure there are some weird old guys there that could qualify as the boogey man. In the area around Clayton, OK, Weyerhauser and another company have about 1.5 million acres of timber that they allow the public on their logging roads. There have been a couple of national off road events held down there in years past. It can be pretty rugged in some areas.

Whew, Arbuckle Lake near Sulphur is a great large and small mouth bass lake but the smelly sulphur springs at the park never did much for me.

Woolaroc museum near Bartlesville is a great place. It's surrounded by a 3700 acre wildlife preserve and was founded by Frank Phillips, as in THE Phillips in Phillips gasoline. He has the biggest Colt firearm collection of anywhere and tons of Native American artifacts.


PS, If you have Delorme Street Atlas USA or Topo USA, you can see all the forest logging roads in and around Clayton. Look at the area around Honobia and Nashoba.

I use both StreetAtlas USA and Topo USA with a GPS to navigate all the places I wheel.

Colt, Remington, Daisy.....yeah, Sulphur was just that. A small town that smells constantly like sulphur. Peeeeeyou.

I don't know if you noticed what's under the laptop. It's the same neoprene sheeting they use to line the bottoms of tool box drawers. It comes in a roll. You can get it at PepBoys, etc. It's not sticky but is VERY anti skid. I lay a sheet of it on the seat and the laptop on top of it and it doesn't slide off. I also put a sheet of it in between my tool box and Husky liner in the back. The toolbox stays put and doesn't slide around even when wheeling.

i bought a garmin ique 3200 recently.. i recommend it for anyone looking for pda functionality, this is a great deal because the gps system in it is SO easy and so well done (its a garmin after all!)

i got it on ebay for 300 bucks shipped... you can find em in stores from $400 to $600...

I used one for a while. There are times when wheeling a new area, that I need to see a "lot" of area at a relitively high zoom level. The laptop size screen is the only way I can do that. Plus the software is cheap and I already had the laptop.

Your T4R just eats up the trail. Looks like you had a lot of fun in that muddy mess. Really like that Revtek lift, gives the 4runner a more rugged and aggresive look.

Thanks guys. I just love to get out in the woods and mess around. It was in the low 30's that day but I still like to wheel with the windows down just so you can hear the birds and what's going on plus smell the pine trees.

I agree, for some reason, as soon as the road turns turns dirt, the windows come down......just doesn't seem right without

I can hack it until it get too dusty. I learned the hard way about rolling down the back window when it's real dusty.

This is true.

Or when you drive a quad through the back window of your buddy's 88 Yota 4by, and he gets a ride with someone else and you have to drive it home at night, with ski goggles on and glass blowing around LIKE dust......ya, that sucked LOL
