Tundra coil and bulletin help

Hey what's up guys, so I've narrowed it down to getting my suspension done and I've decided to go with Tundra TRD coils and emu 906 in the rear with bilstein 5100 all around, but I'm stuck.

Should I do the tundra 5100 that wheelers is offering or can I use that new 4Runner 5100 that wheelers is offering. Yes I know this thread has a lot of help but I can't Find anyone with the new 4Runner 5100, mainly because all the threads are old and haven't been brought back to life

Does anyone know which ones I'm suppose to use?

the 4runner 5100s are just the tacoma 5100s. id personally go with the tundra 5100s, they have more adjustability. if i may take the liberties to make a suggestion... id not go with the TRD tundra coils and save some money and buy the toytec eibach coils, and then run them on the lowest setting on the tundra 5100s. that should give you about 2" of lift and be perfect with your rear setup.

i ran the TRD coils and they are blaa. yes they work and are ok, but the eibachs are so much nicer and give a much better ride. i wish i had never wasted the money on the TRD coils.

If you still have that complete TRD strut I'll buy it

Really? How was the ride with the eibachs? Was it stiffer or softer of a ride?

I keep finding threads that say the TRD coils are too sof and then some say they're too stiff. And the 906 are the same, I was going to buy some from a guy on here and he said the 906 was too stiff for him so he got lc 8, but I do t want to deal with trying to find those right now.
 
The TRD coils were to harsh. The eibach are much more forgiving. The eibach coils is a longer coil and therefore can absorb more bumps softer... It's still plenty stiff for the road though

Gotcha... Are these the ones you're talking about ?

Also if I got the eibachs would I still need the coil isolaters? I've been reading on the eibachs but no one mentions the coil isolater? I'llrpbably run the tundra shocks on the lowest setting since I don't need that much of s lift, just 2" is fine
 
I know there are some seriously varying opinions on this subject but for what its worth I loved my Tundra TRD coils on the Tundra 5100's I had on my last 4Runner.
My 4runner was stock weight. Now this might be the difference my Tundra TRD springs were USED, I bought them fro a forum member who got them form a junk yard. So they had been broken in under the weight of a tundra, I am not sure how much of a difference this makes, if any.
All I can say is that it rode like a caddy super plush goodness.

I keep hearing they settle out real nice, I think I'm just gonna run the TRD I don't need a big lift and I think 2" is my max
 
I want to add that I believe there might be something else at play here with why people are reporting drastically different experiences with the Tundra TRD and 5100 setup.
I think there could be a bad production run of either the 5100's or the TRD springs that is to blame. Maybe a batch of TRD springs that got mislabeled and were actually the double cab springs?
Its just really odd that numerous people have had terrible harsh firm rides and numerous others report super plush awesome results :noidea:

I never owned the Eibachs so I can only comment on the TRD Tundra setup. I bought them new with the S.S. lift kit. In my extensive thread reading for a year (because I wanted to do it right the first time). Most people like the Tundra's over the Eibachs & OME's by a wide margin. The only complaint was that they can be a little stiff when new & when they have no weight up front. I knew I was adding a steel plate bumper & 3/16" steel skid plate so i wasn't worried. The TRD's were awesome new without the weight & even better after I added the armor. You will love them.

just did the tundra 5100 and toytec 3" springs last week..on 2nd perch. decent lift...but very stiff initially! still super firm but starting to settle in. If you want a soft ride I would avoid the toytecs...maybe 99 talls or something else.

If you hit a little bump at low speed you will get the bounce...bounce..bbbbbbounce..bounce until you speed up a little...lol

I just have an addicted tube bumper up front now so a little more weight should smooth it out.

I assembled with Monroe isolaters/ tophats too.
 
So after looking things up and reading all night... I'm just gonna run tundra coils on 5100 all around.

I think they'll settle after a while and I don't particularly want anything bigger then 3". Specially because my tires are 275/75/17

So my shopping los is

2-tundra coils
4- 5100
2-coil isolators

hopefully I'm not missing anything lol
 
If you don't mind waiting a couple of weeks I will have my front Tundra 5100's and TRD coils off my 06 Tundra for sale. I'm in the bay area (Santa Cruz). Coils have 140k and 5100's have 8k on them. Work perfectly, just moving towards Icon's. I can swap 4runner top plates on as well so it will be all set up to use. PM me if you're interested and we can discuss price.

For the front struts, use the 99-06 Tundra 5100s, but just remember to get the 4Runner spec'd 5100's for the rear. The only difference I think is they put the appropriate sized bushing on the bottom of the shock vs the Tundra's required bushing size.

Thanks, I found everything on wheelers.... I'm just looking for the trd coils now
 
I had plenty of weight on my TRD coils and added more and still never like the ride... I check part number to paint codes and I had the TRD coils, not the double cab coils. I started off with a brush guard and full 3/16 skids and sliders, and then added my bumper and winch. For one they didn't hold the weight, and two the ride never softened up.

Running the eibach coils at the lowest setting on the 5100s should net you about 2" of lift.

Really??? I keep reading that it gives you 3"... Even on toytec it mentions that you get 3"
