I think it would work. I just don't know about the ECU and stuff that goes with it. You might have to find the one for the 4Runner, or get an aftermarket one.

Also, it's not that the 4.7 can't handle it. It's that the 4.7's made HERE (Tundra/Sequoia) can't handle it, because they have hollow rods/internals or something, as opposed to the 4.7's made in Japan (Land Cruiser, 4Runner), which have forged or something. The point is, the 4Runner 4.7 can handle it just fine. Trust me :D

EDIT: Not sure about 2005+ 4Runners, where they changed the engine a bit (added VVT-i?). Sorry.
 
The truck can handle it, to a point. Don't expect it to be reliable for any long amount of time if you frequently stomp on it, especially on longer trips. Since you'll be over-taxing your cooling system. You will also have to look into a custom tuning solution, such as the AEM F/IC, to set the AFR during boost to a proper, richer level.
 
in addition to the cost of the parts, installation (if you don't DIY) and other bits, i suspect that premium fuel will now be required or at least highly recommended.

not sure how much gas is where you are, but over here, premium is well over $4/gallon so filling up your tank may end up costing you a bit more than you may have budgeted for.

for the 3rd gen w/ TRD superchargers, iirc, a 7th injector kit was offered as an option for their s/c kits to help richen up the mixture (they highly recommended it if running overdrive pullies).

i'm not sure if the s/c comes with a BDFPR or you'd be on your own, i have never seen the 4.7 kit so that might be something you want to check on or budget for.

if you really want to add some serious HP, larger injectors might be an option if pulse width or flow cannot be increased sufficiently to provide a rich a/f ratio under f/t boost.

a good a/f ratio meter couldn't hurt, either. IIRC, some multifunction guages can work off the OBD II port, so you wouldn't need to drill/tap manifolds, run extra wiring, piggyback sensors, etc...

something that caught my eye was that it was modified to fit a tundra. i don't know what that entails (modding the manifold, mounting brackets, etc...) but if it's been modified to fit a tundra, there's no guarantee that it will fit the T4R, and if it doesn't, there may be no way to return it to a state that can fit the T4R w/o welding or adding material back to the manifold so it fits.

also - it doesn't come w/ a computer. if you have to find your own, even a junkyard one, that could be some $$$. programming it for s/c use could run a little more, if you can find a company willing to do it at all.

otherwise you might have to go standalone ECM (Apex'i, etc...) and have to pay a bunch of $$$ for dyno tuning/dyno time/etc... and i have no idea if or how well the other systems (tranny) will interact w/ an aftermarket unit.
 
Well it *should* come with a 9th injector kit. But that computer would still worry me. The one I have is made for the 4Runner, and I don't think one for the Tundra would just work right out of the box. And premium fuel is a must, and it's expensive. Just to reiterate that unfortunate point.
 
it's a risk, but it is the same engine. The computer shouldn't have much to do with the body harness, so that shouldn't be an issue. Technically, it should bolt right up as long as it has clearance on the hood and also the intake may need some "adjustment"
 
Oooo good point galactic. Mine has a pretty tall body lift on it, so I don't know what the fitment would be with the hood on a non BL'ed one. Just make sure you measure your space first.
