Gas is a $1.81 here, I am almost looking forward to filling up just to see how cheap it will be! Diesel is almost a buck more btw.
Toyota has said on numerous occasions that they have no interest in developing or adapting a diesel for the US market mostly due to the aforementioned environmental regulations and not being caught on the wrong side of that debate. Not an abomination; diesels a good idea; along with electric powered vehicles; look at the highlander hybrid; this should be an option for 4 runners too; I've seen used engines Toyota diesel engines for sale and there doing it; Mercedes diesels fit too; its just the matter of how much will it cost.
Why doesn't Toyota offer diesel as an option? Too bad VW lied about there diesel numbers ... ruined a good thing for everyone; emissions were getting there it can be done.
Toyota has great diesels; more efficient than gas; lots of torque; that's what got me looking at Toyota's in the first place. Diesel land cursers; pardos; the newer D4D engines; there just not offering them right now in merica; WHY not? Diesel today is a much cleaner fuel today then it used to be. So what's the holdup? I would gladly swap my perfect condition 4L for a 3L D4D engine.
Actually this guy is even worse than the BAM BAM tire blow out from a few days ago
Getting good mileage makes me happy but I’m not really saving all that much. My Fuelly account says my gas price for 8 years had been $3.18 so let’s go with that.
10,000 miles @ 18 mpg = 555.6 gallons.
555 x $3.18 = $1764.90
10000 miles @ 21 mpg = 476.2 gallons.
476.2 x $3.18 = $1514.32
A difference of $250.58.

The type of road surface being driven on is also a factor in fuel mileage.
KOMC what does that abbreviation mean; where's that?;
where is gas $1.81 a gallon?
Quality of the gas; hills, temperature & humidity all factor in; so wondering if gas quality was different between fill ups? Suppose you'd / we'd never know.
Does that mean 13 liters (litres) per 100 km? If so, that would be around 18.2mpg I think.
Just found this table; ... curiosity got the better of me ... I tried real hard to get good mileage yesterday on a short highway trip; and got 11.7 L / 100 kms that'd be 24.5 mpg! Table so we can compare apples to apples; (you "imperialists's!" (metric is so-oooo! much easier to work with folks!):biggrin1:
25 miles per gallon equals 11.5 liters per 100 kilometers
24 miles per gallon equals 12.0 liters per 100 kilometers
23 miles per gallon equals 12.5 liters per 100 kilometers
22 miles per gallon equals 13.0 liters per 100 kilometers
21 miles per gallon equals 13.5 liters per 100 kilometers
20 miles per gallon equals 14.0 liters per 100 kilometers
19 miles per gallon equals 15.0 liters per 100 kilometers
18 miles per gallon equals 16.0 liters per 100 kilometers
17 miles per gallon equals 17.0 liters per 100 kilometers
16 miles per gallon equals 18.0 liters per 100 kilometers
15 miles per gallon equals 19.0 liters per 100 kilometers
14 miles per gallon equals 20.0 liters per 100 kilometers

That chart is for British gallons and does not equate to discussion about mpg on this forum.
Use google man. 11.7L/100km is 20.1 mpg
13l/100km is 18 mpg...
Just type “11L/100km to mpg” and it will bring up an interactive page
It will likely suggest that after you type “11L”

Yeah, I knew that. Forgot to put a smiley on mine ;-)lol, ... just a ribbing ... all in good fun; the whole building industry was developed in imperial; 12mil ply; and 50.4x102 mm doesn't roll off the tongue; or hitting the ton, 100 mph, (160kms per hr)
i always thought of concocting some sort of quick-connect, removable front lip spoiler, like the GM full size trucks have. i could've sworn i read somewhere that when those guys removed that lip, their highway mpg's dropped.
