Turn signal bulb size

Hey guys I just made a $187 order from superbrightleds.com. I did my best to cross reference all the bulbs but I have a question on one of them.

The spec sheet says the cross reference for the front and rear turn signals is a 1157 which is dual intensity correct? Some guys here at work are saying that they should be 1156 in the rear because dual intensity is not needed, only the front because it is used as a daytime running light. My turn signals in the front do stay on and act as daytime running lights but they go off as soon as i hit the headlights. So why is dual intensity needed?

I would think 1156 would be right for both since the front and rear just come on/off and never actually get brighter or dimmer. Maybe Im wrong but I thought the dual intensity was for a dim light that flashes brighter.

Anyway I ordered a pair of 1157 and a pair of 1156 but im not quite sure if i got the right thing.

for the 2006-2009 the front drl is 1156.. the rear is 7440 or 992 I believe

oh and as far as the dual intensity, Im not sure why. I havent heard that before so I don't know. and we'll see what others say, Im not absolutely positive those bulbs are correct

On the Sylvania replacement guide it lists daytime running light-4157 and non daytime running light-992. On the superbrightleds conversion page it says 992 converts into a 1157, which is dual intensity.

So either the front turn signals are considered daytime running lights and I got the wrong bulb, or I got the right thing by getting 2 1156s and 2 1157s. Why are the rear dual intensity? I dont think they come on at all except to flash for turns. I would think 1156s for all 4 but idk.

LEDs came today and I've been quite the happy camper this morning. Got most everything put in and it looks awesome. Full LED interior and exterior lights. The only thing that did not fit was.....of course the turn signals.

The bulbs in my 2003 have a plug style similar to the 7443 thats in the tail lights. Not anything at all like the 1157 or 1156. Since those 4 lights were $70 im gonna have to be sending them back lol. I'll do some more research and figure out exactly what I need. I'll post pictures when it gets darker outside.

Nice, I've been thinking of doing the LED conversion myself. How did the install go?

Can you post a list of all the bulbs/sizes/prices you ordered for reference? Looking foward to pictures!

I believe the the turns will not flash correctly w/o a resistor.

Yes you need a resistor for the turn signals, wired in parallel. The resistors are at the bottom of the page on superbrightleds.com where you order your bulbs. They are like $3 each I think. I think they also have a relay replacement option but I just clipped in the resistors.

u dont need any resisitors if u change out the flasher unit, its only 15-20 dollars for the flasher unit, its behind the inside fuse box. it works great, all my turn signal flash normal after the sawp with the leds. i use 27 leds for each turn signals.
