Turn Signal Buzz

When I turn my right turn signal on, I sometimes (50%) get a buzzing sound (like the relay). The right blinker goes off and the tick-tock sound stops. It only happens when turning right, and doesn't happen consistently... some days it works perfectly (no buzzing) other days its every right turn...

If I push the turn signal and hold it from going all the way, I can get it to work without buzzing depending on the amount of pressure used...same with some slight jiggling

Is my signal stalk wearing out? Is there an easy fix (without replacing the whole stalk)?

I never had the buzz, but my left side intermittently works. There is a write up somewhere here on how to take apart the turn signal and clean the contacts. Mine worked great for 10K miles afterwards and now the left is back to acting up but no where as close to as bad as before.

Mine too, and only turning right. I did recently change to LEDs with a bumper upgrade which required changing out the flasher relay. It's been a couple weeks and it hasn't done it since. So, maybe it was the relay.

Mine does this too. I changed out the relay and it still does it. Although, I may have mixed up the relays and put the old one back in...

I remember having a similar problem with my old expedition and it was a bad bulb which didn't make much sense to me. Might want to try that first before taking apart the steering column.

If it's the flasher relay, wouldn't it happen every time? For example, in 30mins of city driving yesterday, it worked perfectly, with no buzzing. The weekend was intermittent working/not working...

There was a recent post about this again, however we had a slightly different problem where if you didn't quickly move the flasher lever all the way, it would sometimes buzz.

I have this issue, and it's very likely the relay becoming worn. It can also cause some soot on the contacts which would make it worse with time. For the cost, I've lived with it and attempt to push it all the way over so it doesn't buzz.

That said, you have this issue if the lever isn't pushed firmly to it's stop? That almost sounds like it might be the signal lever and/or relay. Could maybe check this while watching voltage at the relay.

If I remember correctly, the Toyota relay was around 45 USD?

Mine, until very recently, would buzz (and the signals would not work) if it weren't in the stuck-on position (just lifting or depressing the lever a little to signal a lane change, etc) -- and after I managed to make the blinkers not work AT ALL by plugging the clock plug into the hazard harness, and then discovered the error (this was after a stereo install) and corrected the error, the blinkers work as though it just rolled off the showroom floor.

Suggestion: take off the console fascia and re-seat all of the harnesses just to make sure it's not a loose connection?
