I was replacing my ignition switch in my 97 4runner- the switch was draining my battery- during the time i was trying to figure out what was causing the draw i disconnected my VIP alarm ecu and the lights started to flash- no big deal- hooked everything back up and the battery was still going dead- hazards would not work but the turn signal would-so i did the same thing- with the alarm on, i disconnected the battery and reconnected and the hazards started to work again. When I finally figured out my problem was the ignition switch- I replaced and the truck works perfect! Only issue now is the turn signals will work but no hazards again. I tried to reset the ecu again as before but no luck what so ever- the signals work but with the signals on, if i press the hazard switch, the signal will stop. When I switch the hazard off, the turn signal will start to work again- where did i go wrong?
