Turning on DRLs on 2004?

250 for a painted spoiler with the wire hanging out for me to splice with....
What is the wire harness? i wonder if it something that I need.

Kinda taking you for a ride... im actually paying 100 for a friend of mine to do it for me. total cost is 350.

Tell me about it...I told the parts guy to hug my root! I ran across the spoiler you mentioned (ChuckyD) and am going to buy the spoiler and paint it myself. As for the wire harness, I think it was made so you do not have to splice into anything...nothing that a good soder job cannot handle. The dealership is called Desert Sun Motors and I do not recommend anyone go buy parts from them...JMO.

I can't believe they don't have them automatically on all vehicles from so and so year. Your sig says your have a 2004: I thought a law or something was passed saying from some point on, any new car made must have DRL. Also, I notice mention about security saying they need it turned off. First question, why? Second, don't they realize that most cars (as far as I know) do not have an option to turn them off?

There are situations where one may not want DRLs on. In my own case, I want to turn them off for "star parties" (amateur astronomy gatherings) and for nighttime wildlife watching and game census. My Suburban lets me turn them off. I picked up my new 2004 4runner on Saturday, and I can find no way to do so. I remember reading a post on some 4runner-related forum about pressing the parking brake pedal in some sequence to temporarily disable the DRLs. Unfortunately, I did not save it and cannot find it now. I know that the DRLs stay off until the parking brake is released, but the post I am trying to find was about keeping the DRLs off until the ignitiion is switched off and on again.

Am I going to have to cut a wire, or is there another way? I like having them on most of the time.

Iman, they do realize it, which is why they usually won't give you a hard time, but the reasoning is for security with the glare of the lights at night they can't see into the car at the driver until the car is right up on them. As far as turning off the ones already installed...I don't know, never could figure it out in my celica. My friend says on hers they go off if the car is in park.

Could someone please try this for me. If you have DRL. Open hood, next to the fuse box on the drivers side, right behind the battery. You will find a little black box about 1 inch by 3 inches. Open this box up, it is attached to the side of fuse box towards the motor. You will see 1 relay in there, 2 relays if you have air suspension. Pull the relay out for the DRL, it is towards the windshield. Pull the fuse out see if that disables your DRL lights. If it does, could you please write down the part# of the relay. Thank you
