Updated first post as I ordered a Superwinch Talon 12.5-SR winch to use with the SSS bumper. I decided on superwinch for the water sealed build and quite honestly because I like superwinch specs for this winch. I was torn between this and another zeon since my zeon 10s went with the 97 when it sold. The Talon was also a little less money than the Zeons. Anyway looking forward to getting it to check out.

Ordered some dash switches from Air on Board to go on left of steering wheel. May come back for another one for air compressor if I pick that up soon.

Depending on how I feel I may try to get the suspension parts on this weekend. Will play it by ear though.

Husky cargo liner came in earlier than I expected. Seems to fit really nice. Just needs to settle a little from being rolled up.

Picked this up at Costco. Realize it's just a rebranded item using the Snap-on name but I'm impressed enough to go back for a few more at $29 each.

It's 2,000 lumens and blinding but will make a great garage work light that doesn't give out 3rd degree burns like the halogens.

I wasn't going to admit it but I had also ordered a Warn 9.5XP with the intention of keeping one and returning one based on which I think looks better in person since I don't have a local store with these things in stock. Both places have a good return policy listed so i should be able to give them some comparison side by side. Don't have the Warn yet though.

I agree, had the fit and finish not held up to my expectations I would have thought to mention it. I was surprised when I got mine too, all Superwinch used to be built stateside. AFAIK just the Husky and X9 are the only offroad winches still built here. The only thing I have found less than stellar was the use of a non-standard remote plug and was is an easy fix.

> Ordered 80' orange viking rope with viking winch stop thimble braided on it
> cancelled SSS bumper again and undecided on replacement between shrockworks or hidden winch mount
> Ordered drabbits full length roof rack with full length flooring.

Fill me in, guessing more than a coupon was deciding factor on winch exchange. I'd like to pull trigger on the Warn this week, curious about your comparison.

Also thinking about moving ahead on Gobi Stealth, why Drabbits?

On the winch, I was torn to begin with regarding the made in china indication. But when I noticed the "cast in China" mark on the winch line hook I just didn't feel comfortable. I'm sure it is purely misplaced concern but it was my reasoning so I shipped it back and ordered the Warn.

On the Warn, I had a 10% off coupon from ordering my husky cargo liner, so I decided to use it. The place only had the steel cable version so I managed to get it for about $1215 shipped and then I searched around and found a 3/8" Viking orange 80' line with the black viking winch stop thimble braided on for about $270. With all said, I'm into this about $1515 which is still cheaper than the warn synthetic version and I have dyeema line versus spydura line which is a plus. I will probably offer the wire cable and roller fairlead for sale at some point.


On the roof rack it came down to price as well. As much as I think Gobi is nice, the Drabbits was the cheaper option. It was also more customizable and since I don't have a sunroof I like the idea of a solid floor versus one with a sunroof insert. No other good reason other than it seemed to fall between the Baja and the Gobi and seemed to be a nice product.

Time will tell on both decisions.




EDIT: now when I search I see Amazon has it for $1215 without coupon. Ha! Oh well, I guess I got an average deal but either way my cost for the synthetic setup is still less.

I found those switches to be a little more dim and the action not as nice as those you get from Slee, they are still cool switches just not as bright. Going to try an replace one of the AOB leds see if it is any brighter, if not I will want to swap with the Slee innards and use the AOB face plates.

Either way I don't think you could go wrong with the winch.

I replaced the "shady" hook with a Flatlink shackle receiver. If I would have stayed with a hook I would have ordered a Crosby regardless.

Totally looking forward to seeing all this stuff bolted on!

On another note I see why my winch price didn't seem as good as I thought because the coupon didn't apply and $1215 is their normal price. Oh well, still a decent price I guess.

The AOB look great when not lit sucks it makes the switch twice as expensive to make it look good. If the Slee switch had different face plates, problem solved
