Where did you get the replacement seats?

The replacement rear seats were an eBay find. They are out of a 99 and look to be in good shape.

For the front I'm actually considering some Corbeau Sport seats in black vinyl and having my rears recovered in matching black but am undecided.

Thanks man. I actually have your build thread bookmarked as one of my inspiration threads. Look at it all the time. Especially page 16. Your truck looks awesome.

On the amp, I'm going to put a trim ring around it to hide my crappy cutting work. It will look similar to the grill that will be on my subwoofer.

On the wood trim as I understand it original trim was just around the radio. Someone, maybe dealer, put the real wood in mine. I'm sure it was a high end luxury item but unfortunately it didn't hold up like the factory plastic. The kit I ordered through Jason Burtman is plastic wood like the factory trim so it should hopefully match up well and last.

I'm impressed with your audio setup. I love that JL amp and have though about it for future audio projects. Right now I have 2x Alpine amps instead of a single amp but that is fine. I also performed the sound deadening mod back in Spring 07' and it has worked out great.

I am a little curious about the amp mounting spot, do you plan on cleaning it up somehow, those edges look rough and there is a gap. Sorry I notice little things like that.

I can't believe the limited trim you have either. I have a 97 Limited and while I have the plastic wood grain around the AC, everything else is black (cupholder, around shifter etc) ... Perhaps it was a dealer option.

Looks great so far though. Subscribed.

Not yet but I expected that, I'm not too worried about it. I was hoping they'd give me the cover back and I was going to see if I could epoxy the mount back together.

Sorry it happened, I paid the UPS store to package it, wish they had done a better job.

Picked this up today on sale at Napa. Normally over $400 I believe and they have on sale for $199 right now. 3.5 tons and just shy of 21" height. I'm sure no one noticed it matches my garage paint theme.

Fedex also brought a box of Ensolite today. Ordered 3 yards of it without the peel and stick backing so I could wad it up and stuff inside panels to control noise. No picture but it's the same grey padding looking stuff in my other pictures that you get from Raamaudio.com


Lastly, I spent a little time today getting the back bumper off and spare tire off so I can replace my rear cabin pressure vent and get ready for my CBI bumper when it get's here in a month or so.

Nice progress so far, really getting after it! You're going to love your CBI Hydrid rear, the lines are so clean and flow really well together, I get tons of compliments on mine. The carrier is top notch also, any questions about it just let me know. What are you thinking for the front, i know you ordered your winch, whats it bolting to?

On the front bumper, It's a secret.

Someone is building me a front bumper that isn't on the market yet so I had to promise not to divulge any info or share prototype pictures before they announce it. It's coming from a well respected fab shop and should be top quality though. It's going to be around 8 weeks before I get it though, and the wait will be killer. LOL


Some primer applied this morning. I'm using Krylon Rust Tough spray paint.......... (I do know I got too much on the weld plates and will have to clean them up before welding)

And first coat of Krylon Rust Tough Semi-Flat Black

Hard to see much difference but final coat applied on sliders and close up of Semi-Flat color

Honestly not sure I like the paint color and may end up top coating with gloss black. My truck is black, and my rims in route are SCS F-5 gloss jet black, so these may not blend in. Want to get it pinned down before my front/rear bumpers are here as I plan to paint them as well, and also wanted to paint my limited fenders and trim a similar color as well.

What do you guys think? This have too much of a grey look to it?

In addition to priming and painting my sliders, I got the new pressure vent installed today:

And, I got the headliner reinstalled today. Finished putting sound deadener pieces around the parameter of the roof area and taped all the edges with the foil tape. Then I vacuumed the back of the headliner and sprayed with some Ozium new car smell stuff. Then I lined the back of the headliner with peel and stick ensolite closed cell foam in all parts except where the sunroof slides open. Of course, I forgot to take pictures, but here it is installed again.

Part of the wait to get this up was waiting for this press fit clips from Toyota to arrive. I found it impossible to get them out without breaking all but 1 of them. You can just barely see them in the above picture as they look like dirt or smudge spots, but there are 6 of these that help hold up the rear center of the headliner.

Not much new this week.


Just this update from earlier in week:

And one update received today. Not sure this is the best radio but it has modern features like NOAA weather and a nice display. I'm hoping I can make this fit in the dash with the pioneer radio once I get to point of replacing my stereo. CBI is putting an antenna mount tab on the rear bumper as well.

Tomorrow, a set of five SCS F-5 Gloss Jet Black wheels and lug nuts should be showing up along with some wiring techflex and heat shrink. Ill post pictures. I'm hopeful to start getting audio wiring and CB antenna wiring in place next along with my Tacoma Whip Mod. That will allow me to finalize floor sound deadening and start getting carpet installed.



No install progress made this week unfortunately.

Couple more packages showed up today. I've got lots of work to get busy on!


Now I just need to get some 33" Goodyear MTR meat on these wheels and ill be all set.

Got a bunch of 3/8 easy cut techflex and a few different sizes of white heat shrink to start running audio and CB cables.

Still waiting on bumpers, corbeau seat brackets, recovery gear, and I'm thinking of doing ball joints and tie rods when I install lift and brakes.

Yeah, my fortitude is tested each time I think of the items I still have to go and how much the total cost is to revamp and transform this puppy.

Of course then I remind myself that even when I'm done I won't have as much in it as some guys are paying for the stock truck with similar mileage in other parts of the country.

Can't wait to get it back to a drivable point though.

Vin is great over at SCS. This set is considered to be blemished and I bought them that way knowingly for a slight discount which really helped out my budget. That said, I can't even find the blemishes but as a perfectionist they didn't want to sell them as non-blemished. The marks are on the back inside the barrel and as such don't affect my usage what-so-ever.

Oh yeah I know the feeling. I am almost to the level of putting more into my rig than I bought it for. Gonna be double next year sometime and when I get my "super secret project" then I will be way over what I paid.
