Yeah, CBI's prototype does have dimpled holes up top, mine aren't either, and are a little rough honestly. i was referring to what looks like 3 mounting holes for the front of each frame rail. My bumper has 5 mounting bolts per frame horn plus the 2 on the body mounts.
 
So glad I clicked on your build thread to see updates. I have been scoping those seats out for a while (because they actually make brackets) but couldnt find anyone with a 4runner that had them with pictures so I slept on the idea.

My biggest concern is seat height, has it changed at all? I am afraid its going to put me up higher. And whats the comfort like?

Not sure how it would be using the corbeau brackets but doing it the way I did it turned out basically the same seat height.

I bought the seats from one vendor
The corbeau double lock sliders for another
Then bought the "O" shaped plates from planted technology direct.

Then took the feet tabs off the stock feet and bolted onto the planted technology plate. Then bolted seats to slider and slider to the planted plate. Worked out pretty well.

Lastly removed the tabs that hang down on Esther end and support sides of factory bumper

Once I get the hybrid bumper on ill trim the fender liner plastic flush that is still hanging down.

Morning updates

Went ahead and ordered a Diehard Platinum G35 battery. Guess I need to go ahead and get my higher output alternator in the works also. Had hoped to wait a few moths on battery and alternator upgrade but I can't control when the battery is going to die.



And started test fitting the front bumper this morning only to realize I think I'm missing a box as I don't have the turn signals or the frame rail brackets or plates needed to attach this to the front of m 97s frame. Looks good though.

Will instead move on to focusing on the rear bumper swap, front lift and diff drop for today.

Quick rant

Man do I need to go buy a piece of pipe to use as a breaker bar. Getting the stock front diff bolts out is a *****. Got one out and struggling with the other. One I got out was very corroded. I improvised and used two 1" or larger box wrenches on the handle as a breaker bar. Took two together to allow enough force to get it to break free without ending box wrench too much.

Now back to work. :whipping2

Your setup may be different than mine but i use my floor jack handle as a breaker bar from time to time when i need some extra leverage. Mine comes apart in what looks like a similar fashion to yours.

Good luck and take breaks to keep from throwing shit against the garage wall. :artist2:
 
Dang that's a lot of speaker wire! Looking awesome though, very thorough.

I call dibs on your floor mats if you don't keep them! :D
 
Well, a productive day all around. :)



Sonoran Steel diff drop installed but no picture.



Front shocks/springs installed with new tires/wheels mounted.

Rear bumper swapped out. Ended up reusing my original swing arm, can carrier and spare tire mount.

dang man, I dream of things like this, having a garage full of goodies for my 4runner, I am way jealous, and can not wait to see how your rig turns out! im diggin that hybrid front bumber BTW
 
Thanks guys. That garage full of stuff has been nice but seeing it is very stressful too as it constantly reminds me of how much more work I have to go after spending nearly 5 months on the project so far. LOL



About yesterday, one thing I will say is we liked to have never gotten the passenger side strut mounted. We tried everything from loosening various bolts, to removing the sway bar connection to adjusting the front diff height but it was a bear to get the lower shock bolt in. The biggest issue we faced was getting the bolt past the cv boot itself. Took about 3 hours or more to get the passenger side done.

Go figure but for comparison the drivers side took less than 15 minutes and the rear bumper swap took about an hour in total.

Lookin good, I like the way its coming together. Sorry to hear about the diff bolts mine have been out so many times they're good and freed up Lol. I always have to fight with the passenger side strut on mine to, not sure what the deal is, hopefully I've had them out for the last time for awhile.

Yeah they are a pain but something that helped me is when going from stock to lifted that would be to loosen the alignment cams then install everything then tighten them back up. Just an idea I use.
 
Sorry if this ruffles any feathers as I know others were interested, but I'm very excited to be getting this lightly used high output alternator from another forum member to replace my 70amp stock unit with. Should have it next week.

What are the details on that alternator. I have read we can put an alt from a northstar caddy, also. I happen to have one laying around because I've replaced the alt in my 96 eldorado several times...
 
Drove the truck a little today. Snapped a picture of it while out. No front bumper yet. Surprised to see I've only put 250 miles on it in 5 months now. :)
