That is sweet rig. I put an 02 limited int into my 98, but haven't wired everything in yet. I like how you've executed your oem mods. Did you get the garage door opener in the visor to work ?

How-to on wiring would be appreciated. I did the 99+ in my '98 and tried to follow the wiring from another thread on here and just couldn't get it to work.

I've been using the '98 switches that are sticking out from under my seat for almost a year.

This rig is incredible, from complete functionality of it, to how clean it is, undercarriage included. One day I hope my rig decides to clean its act up, and adult like yours does.

My visors came from a '00 Limited, so I don't have the HomeLink visor like the '01/'02. That would be sweet though!

[emoji23] Wow, that's dedication! I honestly don't remember how I did it all. I remember the defrost is a little funky, and you gotta utilize the old switch guts with the new switch- at least, that's how the guy did it that I copied! It's due to the latching/timer relay that's integrated into the switch. Supposedly, the '99+ button is just momentary, so it must have a separate relay somewhere on the '99+ rigs.

Yeah, its definitely a VW term. I try not to associate myself with VW's too much [emoji23] I just love Mk4's and old Beetles- I can't help it. I was trying to think of a title for the thread, and OEM+ seemed fitting for what I'm going for.

Often nothing for snow. De-icer on hills if precip is expected with freezing temps, and gravel on the hills once the ice has set in.
Unless you're close to the coast, we have zero rust here.
Some years we don't get any snow at all. Most years we get 2 or 3 little snow falls, and every couple years we get a foot or so once that winter. Portland is at sea level, so snow rarely falls in Portland. I just moved closer to Mt. Hood, so I'm at 1,000ft, and see more snow at that elevation.

Me too. I've been lazy and I'm not missing anything. My defrost is under dash, I reach up to turn on, one day.

And it might look like I'm just good at polishing paint, but this is my old man rig, and I'm enjoying it being nice.
My 2nd gen 4R I 3.4 swapped 6 years ago-

Manual swap, dual RF1A's clocked 10*, flat belly-

Lengthened upper links for a better pinion angle with the DC joint at the case. Wasn't worth buying adjustable links when it would all be ditched "soon" anyway(sold it before I actually put the 'tons under it).

And not my truck, but a truck I'm currently building for a buddy-

I hate the custom cab, but he loves it *
2rz, dual cases, KP60/ARB front, 14B/Detroit rear. 135" WB was about as short as I could get it with the custom cab on 42's. Maybe that's not right, but I think it was 135".

I would have snapped them up in a heartbeat. I'm in searious need of leather seat bottoms.

I'll come back to read more — after I go chase my tears away with something green...

I cant believe those leather seats went to the dump either! Easily $300 for the pair. Or just re-skin.

Just had no room to store them, thought we loved the cloth, and zero interest from CL for $120. Thing is, they were trashed front and rear- needed new leather all around. No one around here would pay $300 for those seats in their condition! Got my cloths for $250, my new leathers for $50 or $100 more, sold my cloths for $250. New leather would have been at least 3x that- which I couldn't afford. Although I can't believe I took them to the dump, I didn't have much of a choice.

Yeah, I definitely priced out new leather for the old seats. There are a couple different options on eBay. It was still far more than I could afford to do- considering both fronts needed bottoms and backs, and rear seat needed bottoms.
