A turn in events...

So after insulating and fixing the mounts on transmission lines the sound seemingly went away. Oh boy what a coincidence though. Well the sound came back with a vengeance! It was twice as loud and I figured it may be bearings...

Well good news is it is not bearing but is the flex plate. I had the flexplate replaced and man was it cracked up. ( See photos)

Just going to post this so if anyone else happens along a rattling noise that sounds like it is coming out of the oil pan, and you have an automatic transmission, you now know what it may be. A cracked flex plate is easy to see on an auto as you can look right into the housing after removing a rubber dust cover at bottom of the bell housing.

its been a lot of years since ive been inside a 22r, but that was my thought also. I think it would be pretty difficult to change it with the cover in place.

My thoughts exactly. Even if this guy is some sort of wizard magician, that's one big rabbit to pull out of your butt!! I want to see this tool he made, and perhaps fabricate one for myself

Call him and ask...he uses some tool he has from snap on No big conspiracy here no big deal..maybe he thinks out of the box...

did anyone get any info on what this tool is ?
