Uncomfortable seat

I do find highway driving to be uncomfortable sometimes, hard to adjust to a good position, I'm 5'7 as well.. Biggest complaint is the lumbar support is way too high and not adjustable...
 
the seats are like most of the seats in most toyotas/lexus. imo not enough support on the sides, and i dont like how short the seat bottom is. but then again my ideal seats are the ones in the mercedes benz AMG models.

I must have mine dialed into me, 30 minute commute or 10 hr roadtrip and they work for me. Now the 2011 F150 supercrew XL model I drive at work feels like I am sitting in a bucket, unless I am pimpin with the seat way back, I am more of a vertical kinda guy. 5' 6".
 
My normal commute to work is 20 mins on freeway so I don't really get much seat time. However I just did a 6 hour drive from Las Vegas to Santa Barbara (the 101 is a parking lot) and I even commented on this to my wife, I actually believe that the runner seats are the best I have plopped my butt on.
I'm 5'7 190lb and didn't do the butt check resting on one side and then the other dance at all.
Only thing I would change is to make the seats ventilated/cooled like my wife's Lexus.

I find my waterproof driver seat very comfortable. But then again I am partial to seats I could accidentally pee myself in and be able to wipe up no prob.

I'm big n tall and find the cloth seats in our SR5 to be among the best of the current midsize suv's period. Long trips are so much more comfortable than in the 2002 we had before this.
Maybe you have more possible adjustments than you realize. I noticed that the seat back and bottom slightly move apart and change the angles to one another at the lowest settings, as if to make the seating surface longer the lower you go to accommodate wide bodies like myself.

Or maybe not. I just wanted to reply back to the Meow-er above.

This is spot on. I wouldn’t trade my runner for the world and love everything and the seats are comfortable for me and love everything about it but the one tiny gripe I would say is this exact same problem for me. It’s not a big issue since I am still comfy but I feel and wish the steering wheel came out closer. Feels like I’m reaching for it when I’m just relaxing driving with one arm and when I bring the seat up my knees are getting smushed. Can’t seem to find that sweet spot again. I used to have the perfect spot but then I took it to the dealership and some big ass dude totally messed up my seating position and somehow can’t achieve that exact position I had. Idk not a big deal. Wish it came with memory seat position. Main reason I don’t like other people drive it just cause I don’t want the seating position all screwed up and hate trying to dial it in. But I’m ocd like that *♂️
 
This past summer I took a 1,200 mile trip in my SR5 and was very impressed at how comfortable the seats are. 12 hours was the longest stretch with no discomfort at all.
 
If anyone wants to see what a uncomfortable seat feels like, go drive a new Tacoma. I had a 19 TRD Tacoma for 2 days B4 I got my 18 TRDOR 4Runner. Google search tacoma seats uncomfortable and see all the treads.

Love the 4Runner seats. I can spend all day in the 4Runner and it’s great.

Yep. Somebody fouled up on the lumbar support. Hits me higher up than the actual lumbar region. Was excited about having the adjustable support coming from a car without it, then found out it was garbage.
 
2011 SR5 driver seat uncomfortable

I’m with you, I’ve heard the interior referred to as having a “high floor.” Which I’m guessing means the pedals feel like they are almost straight out ahead vs feeling like they are positioned much lower. Low headroom I feel like causes it to feel like this even more so.

I’m 6’1’’ and have found 2 positions that I could deal with in 8 months. Of course by accident, they have both been lost due to not having a memory setting for seat position. Very frustrating and I do not know what to do. Causes pain for some reason In my hip.

Even with leather seats it is like this. I did test drive a limited before going with the SR5 and did not notice anything like this. Bought my car out of town and when I got in it, noticed that the bottom part of the seat was slanted due to wearing of the foam. I’m thinking about getting an OEM foam replacement for the bottom part, but even then am skeptical about it being very comfortable. If it could just take the pain out of my hip while driving even for 5 minutes it would be a win.

Do you have info on this foam replacement? The side seem ripped on my driver seat and foam dust leaks out but not sure how to repair. The cloth just needs to be stitched back up.

It has been forever since I got back on here and learned to navigate the website, and then found your response. I hope you have gotten some relief.

I have since gotten a 2019 Limited 4x4, but to answer your question, I found an upholstery shop locally and they did a tremendous job to level out the bottom/butt portion of the front seat. Got it back level. Not sure of part no., but I know they got the foam insert from the local Toyota dealership, and then cut out some katskin or similar leather to wrap around the foam. Evidently there were tons of separate pieces of material that goes on the seat, it’s not just one big piece stitched around the foam. It looked almost factory they did such a good job. It leveled me out when sitting, but still ended up utilizing a small travel pillow. Ultimately it all helped me get by, and helped, but I wouldn’t say it completely solved the issue. Hope this helps.
 
Even with my short legs these 1.25 Front Seat Spacers or Risers make a huge improvement in driver comfort. My legs and feet are more vertical and I can see over the front edge of the hood.
