I never had any water inside the truck.

I just had OCD haha and don't want a mess !! I laid down little pieces of fatmat. I cut it into small tiles and used heat gun because the fat mat was sitting in garage for loooooong time. I went and ordered the jute 3/8 size and will aply under carpet to the carpet with 3m spray adhesive. I wentto local fleamarket and bought 4 squares of CLOSED CELL FOAM. Apparently this stuff doesn't absorb water. So it doesn't breath. And I was/am planning on putting the squares possibly under the feet area, on the bare .metal then lay down the carpet.

Moisture will only happen if water gets under the carpet right ?

How thick is the CCF? As someone else mentioned, you'll be getting pretty "thick" under the carpet. Also, as you said, wherever you put the CCF, I guess moisture could get under it and take much longer to evaporate. If you use the jute on top of the CCF, that would definitely be better but if you had a soda spill or something, whatever got under the CCF is staying under the CCF. I would just use the jute, as Toyota did, and be done with it.

Understood, the CCF is about 3/8-1/4 inch thick. I could use it somewhere else. To be safe.

Does moisture only occur if something gets spilled or water gets inside , alot of it.

Why forego the CCF? It's proven to be the best soundproofing material out there when combined with butyl (fat mat, dynamat etc.). Far better than the jute (Mass Backing). You need the jute to absorb any spills. I'm using 2-lb density cross-linked PE (XPE) closed cell foam and it does NOT absorb moisture. (It's closed cell v. open cell) The stuff I have is actually resistant to chemicals and caustic fuels.

I used 3M 90 spray to secure it on top of the Fat Mat. You have the perfect thickness of CCF. If it's cross-linked PE you're solid. As [MENTION=107674]JRZEE2000TR4LTD[/MENTION] said, you don't want it to be too thick or you won't be able to install any of your interior panels. I had to cut back quite a bit. Spray your carpet with some spill resistant spray and throw some Weathertech or Husky Liners and you're good.

Well, do you think it's safe to lay CCF on bare floor and then the jute on top and carpet ? Because I only used really small pieces of FATMAT and only around fenders, and around the transmission.

I see people use CCF on top of fatmat, but I'm not planning on using fat mat on the whole floor.

So what u guys think ?

Biggest concern is moisture. Again, I do not leak any water anywhere. But I guess moisture can build up?
