Under hood Trim Buttons

I want to replace the stock horn (Toyota must have gotten a deal from the same company that supplies horns to Vespa) but I'm stuck before I started. Does anybody know a trick for removing the buttons holding down all the trim around the radiator without damaging them:wtf:? I don't want to cut and replace them if I don't have to.

Are you talking about the clips? Take a flat head screwdriver or a pocket knife and pry up on the circle part. That'll loosen the bottom part. Just make sure to keep the clips in a cup or something, I have a handful of them somewhere trapped in my engine bay lol.

Sure do. I read page 497 in my Owners Manual to learn the trick. It's likely the same page in your Owners Manual too. Good Luck. Oh. and don't "pry up on the circle part" .

Take that flat head screw driver and push the center in until you hear it click or see that it actually pushed in , then pull it out.

push in, pull out. rinse lather repeat

No tools required

You can just use your finger on the middle. Push down and lift up. Be careful not to drop. Very easy to loose and hard to find if you drop into your engine compartment.

Just push down hard in the center portion and you'll heard/feel a pop. Then just pull out. It really is a nifty little setup.

Yup just push down on the button and it will pop. It might be easier if you take a pen or pencil and just push it down.

As others said, don't lose a piece, I was so close to finishing putting everything back after the fiamm horn install and I dropped one in the engine bay. Never to be found.....
