Under steering wheel pistol holster

Wanting some input on holsters that some of you may use. I'm wanting to purchase one for my Ruger SR9.

I don't personally have a holster for my rig yet, but look into madhouse design, g code and bluline products.
 
I shoved the inside the pants part of a paddle holster between the column and the under panel. Worked great. Until it was stolen.
 
Why anyone would want to own a firearm, let alone store one in their vehicle is baffling to me. In the words of Lynyard Skynard, "Mr. Saturday night special... Ain't good for nothin' but put a man six feet in a hole..."

You may have your reasons for wanting a steering column holster, but I think it brings up a few concerns that are worth thinking through. It will be a lot more visible if you ever plan on not being in the vehicle with it mounted. If the wrong person sees it, you will have a much better chance to get your vehicle broken into. Nothing good comes from stolen weapons. And on a practical side, it seems like an even more awkward pull than a good holster. The muscle memory for high stress situations require you put in practice for this new location. You of course would want to be extremely careful if you ever get pulled over by law enforcement. I am not saying that you have not considered these issues, but I would just prefer to have my weapon on my person if I carried more often.

The gun goddess is a nice option. It helps that their model vehicle is a 3rd gen. And I like that it's just a mount that I can put any holster on it that I want. So when/if I get a new pistol I don't have to buy a whole new setup.

Personally I'm not a fan of under the steering wheel. Right now I'm just using a holster and shoving it in the map pocket behind passenger seat. But I do like the idea of mounting a holster to the front of the drives seat between the legs. Kind of like you see on some of the seat covers.

That way you can have your hand on it ready to draw if need be. But not look too conspicuous and still considered concealed. Which is a must for ccw holders here in California

When I had my CCW (Unfortunately it expired and isn't easy to get renewed, thank you CA) I would prefer to have my weapon either on my person or in a holster in between my seat and center console. Granted when I left my vehicle the weapon went with me.

I plan to continue to try and get my CCW renewed I am also in the process of saving up for a set of Wet Okole seat covers which gives you the option of having a holster built in to the front of the seat cover for easy access, so I guess what I am getting at is that on the steering column wouldn't be a good fit for myself but to each their own.

I wouldn't leave anything gun related showing in my vehicle, your asking to get broken into. Keep it in your console if driving or on you in my opinion.
