Unfreezing rear window

Hey guys. How do you guys keep your rear window working when it gets cold? Any secrets?
It seems whenever it gets cold, my rear window freezes shut and I can't open it :(
It's an '88 if it makes any difference
Thanks in advance.

edit:
Oh also, the rear window defrost doesn't work as of right now. I'm just trying to figure out if there's a way to PREVENT it from freezing.

Wouldn't it help if you threw a cover over the truck overnight?

I'm kind of talking outta my ass here, my window only sees ice about 3 times a year when there's a bad frost...

I would love to have a place with a covered car area or garage. However, the place I'm renting right now DOESN'T have either of them :( I guess I could try covering it with a tarp or car cover.
When the temp goes from around -5

No real magic answer.
Does the rear defog work intermittently? The window has to be completely up for it to work so this may be related to a switch not knowing the rear window is all the way up.
As for the freezing, can't stop that but you can use silicone grease on all the seals to help with freeing it up from sticking as much.

Excellent! I'll look into the silicone grease.
The two wires going from the relay to the rear window defog thing actually broke off. So when I took apart the back hatch if you will, I reconnected them and tested to see if the defogger was working. Unfortunately it wasn't at all I don't think :( I then removed the wires from the connections since I didn't have any electricians tape to fix the wires properly.
That's another one of my problems. Why isn't my defogger working? I can hear the relay click. :( :(
