Hey guys, I have one of the old Gen 1 4Runners ('89), so I'm *hoping* somebody here knows this truck...
My radio will not retain its memory after being off > 5 minutes. 1st thing I checked was the battery coming into teh unit, reads 12+ w/ ignition off as it should. I'm now using a new radio, as I condemned the old one for this very reason. Has done this since I bough the truck 18 mo ago.
So I'm not sure what the deal is, maybe it is technically connected but has very bad connection, and dosn't hold/carry a charge under a load or something? Open to ideas on this...
But anyway, the practical issue here is that I'll probably just tap a new power line for it to bypass the problem.
Anybody know of a good place to tap into? Figure it neds to have a good draw on it... I'm not a fan of messy wiring - is it really difficult to get a line directly to the baattery? I have no idea where the wires go through the firewal on this truck...
