With them closing the chic fil a's, I'm with it, go KU. If bob and bob or Susan and Susan want to get married then go ahead. Why should my thoughts intrude on your happiness?
 
So, is it official that it will be closed down?? I heard about this but did not follow up with it.
 
Situations like this just infuriate me to no end!

Tell me, why is it ok for KU to close locations and "take a stance" for something they don't believe in, but it is inherently wrong for Chick-fil-A to take a stance for something they believe in?

It certainly is not my place to judge anyone, so why has a University made it their business to judge this restaurant chain & their opinions? Chick-fil-A didn't "do" anything wrong, other than share their opinion, which (obviously) isn't shared by the university.


I don't personally care what their politics are, they make a tasty sandwich and I'll eat there when I'm in the mood for a tasty sandwich (or waffle fries).

As far as gay marriage is concerned, I have my opinion, but it certainly isn't relevant to anything or anyone but me. But, I will say this, when I want institutions like this to make my decisions for me, I'll be DEAD!

Side Rant: This is the ultimate problem with social media sites like facebook and twit-er. They condition people to believe that their opinion matter and others want to hear/read it. Just cause you have an opinion doesn't make you important - it just make you another idiot with an internet connection.

* None of this is directed at you Zack, but like I said up top, these type of things just drive me crazy

You know, the reactions to topics like this are always rather curious--since BOTH sides are a choice, BOTH representing someone's personal stand on the issue, why is it that the liberal stance is always the only "correct" decision for the public, while the conservative stand is always attacked and punished? This business owner is taking a stand for what he believes in, and has the guts to let people know it. Did he make any attacks against the university, publicly condemn them, or refuse service to them? He made a PERSONAL CHOICE, just like the other side, yet because the liberal side is considered "politically correct", it's okay to slam this man's business and attack his sales and livelihood? Why is that right? The liberal side made their point, and actively supports their side--why is it wrong for the conservative side to do the EXACT SAME THING?
 
Chik has always been a Christian (Catholic i think) restaurant...they close on Sunday should be telling! I don't eat there often because i am a meat person (those darn cows love people like me!)...BUT, it is their beliefs. Their = owner/ceo/president/etc of Chik.

Has Chik refused service to gay folks? Has Chik made gay folks stand behind the straight ones? Has Chik made gay folks sit in the back of the bus?? Has gay now become a race card in today's society??

I think that Chik is a franchised restaurant...so, KU closing down Chik will not hurt Chik much at all...more like hurting local business folks! Oh well, there is always welfare galore for those folks from the government!!

For the record, i am neutral when it comes to gay marriages. I have no religion affiliation. Whatever floats people's boats is fine by me...just don't shove anything (from either side) down my throat!

You summed up exactly how I feel. The reason I posted this was because I think it's cool that KU has the balls to close them down based on this. That's all.

I don't think it's wrong for Chik-Fil-A to support whatever causes they want, and I don't think it's wrong for other people or businesses to boycott them for it. It's all free speech. What concerns me is whether or not KU is a public institution - it's all good if they're a private university, but if they're state run I think their closing the Chik-Fil-A is a violation of free speech.

And that's all I'm going to say, because this forum is the LAST place I wanna talk about the issues of gay rights and marriage equality.

If he's actually trying to use his position as Mayor to ban a company from his city because he disagrees with the views of the owner of that company, that's definitely a violation of free speech. And maybe due process.

Look, I think the guy is a jerk. I think the way runs his company and the way he promotes his "biblical" version of marriage is horrible. But he's got a right to his opinion, and he's got a right to try to change other people's minds, and this hoorah from KU and the mayor of Boston and whoever else is just a bunch of re****ed grandstanding. Everybody involved needs a slap in the face and sent to bed without dinner.

To take it one step further actions like these are telling us that "institutions have opinions" instead of being able to put a person's name on those thoughts. Company's don't have positions, stances, opinions...etc; the owners and people that work there probably do but we're supposed to give a F about a brand's opinion??? There is no such thing.

I got a real kick out of the publicity Gillette and Accenture got when the Tiger Woods scandal broke. They took corporate stances and yanked his endorsements :lmao: has that honestly affected one person's opinion of those companies and influenced their decision to support them?
 
This is ridiculous. The US is a free country and people are allowed to donate money to who they want. So the CEO donated money to an anti-gay organization, does that change how they operate as a restaurant? Their establishments do not discriminate against the customers they serve and it doesn't change how they operate as a restaurant. Gotta love the liberals and how they swing things. There are many worse problems that we should address first.

Does anybody remember the pastor who the current president of the US was associated with? Case and point!

I get the whole conservative/liberal stance on this but what it boils down to in my eyes is bigotry against a group of people. We are ALL human and deserve to be happy. Thats what we base our short lives on here is the pursuit of happiness and the freedom to do what we want. Who has the right to say you can't have all the same freedoms as your brothers and sisters based on the person you love?

I encourage you all to look at these two pictures and think, but not about politics or religion but about being happy and doing the things in life that you love.

Public, and I know where you're going with that as they may find themselves in a sticky situation. But they are standing up for what they believe is right.

My thought though is if chic fil a will fight it, because they might not want to be associated with the university knowing their stance on the situation.
 
Is Chik refusing service to gays? This is just one person stating that he and his family believes in traditional marriage as defined by his religion. Nothing more, nothing less. He did NOT say that gays are not welcomed in his restaurants. I need to look up the definition of bigotry.

Should divorced folks get pissed too since he said that he is fortunate that their families hang onto their first spouses????
