Those that wont eat there, because of what the owner believes in, or doesnt believes in just just plain stupid...

What if all the owners/board members of Toyota came out and said the exact same thing ? would you sell your Toyota ? :shrug:

What if the owner of the company of pants you are wearing, said the same thing ? would you stop wear their clothing ? :shrug:

I personally dont care what, if the owner is gay, if hes against gays, doesnt really matter, what does matter, id the quaility of the product, the customer service etc...
I havent eating at a chik-fil-a in a long time cause I didnt like the food, but I may start too, just cause he is not ashammed of his views :trophy:

In a free country, differences in opinions is what makes things work. The common noting is if you don't agree with the popular belief, you are shunned. Doesn't sound like a democracy.

BUT, it sounds exactly like America. Unfortunately, freedom is interpreted differently by everyone. In my opinion a lot of people choose to exercise their freedom of speech no matter how stupid it makes them look/sound.

I'm not saying the CEO of Chic is stupid for his opinion. But, as a businessman, he had to know there was going to be some negative backlash from his statements, no matter how much he believes them. Then again, people who share his opinions have been known to have a "follow the herd" mentality and this may have been his way of letting them know that Chic is a "safe harbor" for people of that denomination.

I'm all for sticking to your guns when you're involved in a debate. But, I'm even more for keeping your opinions to yourself. I'm not talking about preferences, like I prefer chocolate ice cream to vanilla. But, more touchy subjects like race, religion and politics should rarely be discussed because most people are passionate about their stance and don't like to have their beliefs questioned. Again, the inherent problem with social media sites is that it encourages broadcasting of your thoughts and I simply don't care if others think I'm right or wrong for what I choose to do, which is why forums like these are the closest thing to social media I'd even consider.

I agree that this may have not been the smartest business decision. But I respect him for speaking the truth and not being afraid to express his values. Having a government run institution act in such a way puts our democracy in jeopardy. While it may not directly be a republican vs democrat battle, the liberal view points always seem to take preference, at least in the media. Just to give another example: the head of the teachers union in NJ publicly told people to pray and wish for the death of Governor Christie. Guess how many media outlets publicized this? Guess how many calls there were for this jerk to step down? NONE!!! Just last week, a teacher verbally attacked the governor when he was chilling at the shore. The governor answered the man back and told him to not curse in front of his kids. This episode was a thousand times more publicized in the media and all the anti-Christie whiners were crying foul. Just one of many examples. I'll leave it at this...

Not saying his opinion is the ultimate truth, it is the truth with regard to his view. The CEO didn't try to sugar coat anything or flip flop for business. Honesty is an important quality IMO. How many business owners/politicians say something just to appease the public?

Huh?! Maybe i am like RandyDaytona now...but huh??!! I don't particularly agree with the CEO's comments, but Dusty, for someone who doesn't like these discussions, you threw out a nasty underhanded comment that is just dumb IMO.

If one is offended by Mr. Cathy's remarks, don't eat at the Chic. If enough people have been offended, the Chic will lose business. Time will tell.

It will be interesting to see how many televised college football games will be bombarded by flying cow commercials this year in lieu of the CEO prostration.

I'm not really interested in talking politics on a car forum, but if you are going to (hyperbolically) throw the word Nazi around (and surrender rational dialog), don't forget that they (that would be the Nazis) persecuted gays in a manner and to an extent not seen before.
