**UPDATE** - DT has made right - Buyer Beware - Doug Thorley Headers

That is awesome news. Great job Marfy. DT stepped up, proud of them.

I still plan to put my DTs on, soon i hope.

There is a good lesson here... Glad Marfy pushed them, which I am sure was a pain in the butt and a lot of wasted time for Marfy.

And if one of the Mods can remove that post about the Land Rover that would be great. We don't need that crap and pictures of those POS machines on the site. : )

Thanks,

Billy

Marfy Nicely done Sir! Taking the high road does work sometimes lol. The legal aspect of all this may have been why Jason was absent from this discussion. Im very happy with my Y pipe and with an 03', this never was an issue for me potentially buying a setof headers, but I was skeptical and was pulling for DT to step up. Thank You DT! Most of us here on T4R.org will promote good products and service. Well done Mike!

FYI on flanges:

Hi Matt,

Currently that is up for debate. The flange is 3/8 and also have never shown to be an issue with any of our headers to include the 14guauge mild steel headers. By changing the air injection tubing we can absorb this cost, but SS flanges are MUCH MORE in cost as we do not source our flanges from outside the US. American made 304 SS (also called Rath) is very expensive but gives us the right to continue to call our product “American made”. If we do so, the cost on these part would go way up, almost out of reach for some. Our goal is to have an option for customers like yourself that is much better than the known flawed OEM design. We also now have the vehicle listing needed to get the THY-563-SS-C, and others like it (561,562,564 short tubes) to get them approved for CARB legality. This test through CA is $7K at our cost along with install time for the test vehicle. I am fighting to not pass this investment cost in a small amount to the consumers like yourself because of the cost to get them CARB (50 state) legal. Our focus is to allow states with residents in CA, NY, PA, MA, CT, NJ and a growing list of others the ability to take advantage of a much better part whom states smog laws do not allow them to take advantage. It may be something we can do as a limited time thing in the future, but I do not want to commit to dates as of now. Dealing with the state officials whom are not auto enthusiasts is a teeth grinding ordeal and will be taking much of my focus for some time.

I know that this may not be the answer you were hoping for but I feel like transparency is best so that honest conversations and decisions can be made going forward.

My flanges, considering my truck is patient zero, are in decent shape. They are rusting, but due to thickness don’t look like the tubes. See attached. And yes, other things are rusting under my truck but keep in mine that’s the shape their in after 10 additional winters than the headers.

Great thread. Great on the Marfy for putting in the effort for this frustrating scenario and great on DT for handling the best way any business can.

I think it would be beneficial for a separate thread/announcement to be created when the newly crafted headers are available and to have this thread linked in. Hopefully someone can set up a group buy as well.

well done Marfy! glad to see they will make it right for you. i wonder if they'll exchange out the ones that haven't been installed yet. i refuse to go trough the welding and installation twice lol

Email Mike and ask. That’s a great question. I don’t see why not since they likely can correct the original products. But, ask. Mike is responsive.

Thanks Marfy for taking the time and effort to get things squared away with DT!

Happy to do it. Thanks to everyone for their support as well. Sometimes you need to be a squeaky wheel. I’m glad they came around.

Anyway, most importantly, and again, thanks to everyone who supported me here. That included fending off the two trolls as well. I’ll be posting my home address, including gps coordinates, and banking information shortly for Cloud9.

Excellent news! Now I wonder if the Long Tube Headers are also affected by this and if they have plans to also make the injection tubes on the Long Tube Headers SS as well....

They should do 304 flanges. The increase in cost excuse is nonsense and I would say they should eat the cost just to make this right. Sure, it’s more expensive but we aren’t talking 1k higher. Maybe $150-200 more. It is a superior metal to use for exhaust manifolds period. Toyota Supra and Nissan GTR aftermarket turbo manifolds are all 100% tig welded 304 stainless. Runners, flanges, everything.

He listed a few other product numbers in the email, so maybe. Double check and confirm.

He mentioned that they may offer it or do a one off run on his response. Seriously, email him and tell him you want it! They are making the decisions now so it’s worth giving feedback.

Ah yes sorry I missed that, THY-563Y-LS-C is the long tubes he mentions that will change to SS.

Well shit guess I'm buying some long tubes once the new production version is out.

Great progress but I think they may be calling my bluff on wanting to go through the pain of jigging and welding and installing a new set again.... let me go look at how bad mine really are.

I know right... well, check it out and maybe shoot some images to DT.

I wonder if the long tubes play better with the steering shaft. My shorties are very close to a bolt that I had to grind down due to my body lift. To be clear, I ground down the steering shaft bolt, not my headers.

I’ll need to ask that too. Since I’m replacing anyway, maybe I can pay the difference...

I'm curious about that as well. I had to puncture the tubes just so the sterring column can fit.
