Upgrade in Audio System.

475 is kind of pricey for that setup. I'm not to found of the L7's, they are not musical to me. The amp is ok.

I'm still kind of confused on your budget. So your willing to spend $600 just on subs or $600 for amp and sub? You know your gonna need an amp for your components too. unless you get a powerful 5 channel.
I was really talking about your budget, as a whole

well put it this way for about $1k you can have a great setup.

examples of what you can get.

Subs:
1 new sundown sa-12's - $220ea, used, around $100-130
1 used 12 JLw7 $300-400
1 used 12 JLw6v2 - find on CL, pay no more than $150ea
1 new Incriminator Lethal Injection $250ea

sub amp:
1 new 1k-1.5k watts- $150-250

Speaker amp:
1 new 4ch $100-200

Speakers:
comp set for the front. Forget the back just use your stock powered by HU. $200
great set for the money
CTX65CS Image Dynamics 6 5" Pro Component Speakers Mids Crossovers Tweeters New | eBay

HU:
pioneer 2700bs. $250 new from ebay

misc installation stuff:
$100-200

So depending on what you want. Dont know if you want to be loud, have sound quality, or both. This is just a rough estimate of everything.

all this guy needs is a new amp for his sub, i suggest the rockford t500, but thats enough for a single sub setup. radio wise, he already narrow it down to 3 good ones, i hope you will find a good quality amp kit also.

I do have this and I think it's big.

That's a pretty big box as far as the rear storage area is considered. I've seen people use boxes that size, but me personally, I like the steal setup better.

How do you like your setup, loudness wise? I looked on your thread, thats a lot of work. I would have no idea, what I'd be doing on that.

I really like my setup, it still needs some work, but it sounds great.

You have any pics of your setup? I'm interested.

Also guys, I'm stopping at an audio place that sells Sundown Audio. Since They're a better quality then Kicker I might choose them. If not too expensive. With the whole setup.

They were in my thread that I linked on page 2

I did have to trim the body a bit to fit the amp, you could always put it under the passenger seat like others have done.

Either way, it sounds great!

I went above and beyond to use the stock location, it's so stealth, that the guy at NTB saw it and said "That's so cool that Toyota uses JL from the factory" I just laughed at him and said, nah that's not stock

Do you just have one 12"? & if so how much did cost ya?

I might have to go this route, if I can't find the info on the Memphis amp.

Yep just one sub, but man does it get loud. Threw it in a ported box, tuned to 30Hz, and it sounds great. I think I paid right around $375 for the sub though. Heres a picture of the box size. Still needs to be finished, and realistically could be a little smaller. Mine is 3.5 cubic feet, but Sundown recommends 2.5 cubes.

nice, what is the thing tuned to.

Well I stopped by 2 audio shops today. First one said, I should keep my sub box and the Sub in it. It's a great setup. He offered me a Kenwood 491 HU installed be $399 and a Memphis amp for $250. Will the installation of the amp and all the wiring for subs and etc, it be $794.

2nd one was a Sundown Audio dealer. He also said I should keep the sub box, that's a great setup, also. He told me you can get one 12" X Sundown Sub and put it in that box. It'll be better then that Mojo you have in it right now. Also with a Kenwood/Pioneer HU installed. Everything will be about $800. If I trade my Mojo for the Sundown X, including the amp.

So should I trade up and get the Sundown? Or just keep the Memphis setup, I have currently?

op, like others and I have mentioned, just use that sub that you have for now. Its a good sub. If you worried about space, just get a sealed box for it. Or if you call memphis and get the the specs, have some one build you a custom ported box. its probably not going to be bigger than 1.5 cu.ft, for a ported.

Where are you planning to mount the amp, and i'll give you some suggestions.

Here is my JL 12w7 in a 1.5cu ft box

If you trying to save money, keep the memphis for now and just get an amp. You can do all the wiring yourself, its not that hard, just time consuming. If you do the wiring yourself. Mind as well pre-wire everything for future upgrades.

Tuned right around 30Hz with a 6inch pvc aeroport.

I dont think the sundown x12 would be good fit in that box. The sundown needs to have a box tuned low to make it sound good. I would guess the Mojo box is tuned higher. So I would either keep the Mojo and box together, or the sundown and a new box built to the specs of the woofer.

Guy said my box would be great for it, since the box is thick and heavy.
I guess I'll find out some more info this evening on that part.

Cheaper route would be to keep the Sub and the box.
I'm not gonna upgrade my speakers right now, but I will probably in the Summer, or later down the road.

It sounds like you'd be content with your current setup, why not use that and save some money for other projects. If you choose to change down the road you aren't out any money.

Car audio can get expensive quickly. It makes a lot of sense to listen to the different options around you. I ended up going with Hertz Audio after listening at multiple places. Audio systems can be pretty subjective when picking between brands.

Thanks for the help man.
I wanna try to stay with Memphis since I got that sub.
Or get something that has high reviews and powerful without breaking the bank.

Later down the road I'm gonna upgrade my speakers, would I need another amp for that? Or does it have enough power from the HU?

You'll be able to play your speakers off of the head unit power, but an amplifier would most likely be better. The head unit is 50 watts x 4 peak, where speakers may require more than that.
