Upper control arm joint question

V8 Runner

New member
I have a 2003 SE V8 4runner and recently I went to my mechanic for the trucks first maintenance (I just got it a month ago), my mechanic told me that the front right upper control arm's ball joint is worn/damaged. We then proceeded to replacement option of the join but it seems the only option is to replace the control arm which runs for over $400.

Please share your wisdom!!!

I always use those opportunities to upgrade. You can get aftermarket uca's for not too much more than that and take care of both sides.

Good luck either way.

If you are lifted or plan on lifting then use this opportunity to get non-oem UCA's. This will save you more frustration down the road. There are quite a few to choose from. Some like the fully adjustable version from Light Racing (also the cheapest), other like uni-ball versions for better travel. Prices will range from $375 (light racing) to $700+.

i'd get the light racing uca's regardless. It's not that much more expensive and let's say one day you're working on the truck and rip the UBJ boot. WIth the LR UCA you just buy a new balljoint and can bolt it in without a press.

I 2nd that opinion. This is what I recommend as well.
