upstream 02 sensor for 2000 4runner california

I purchased a new 02 sensor and at the time of installation realized I had a California emission equipped 4Runner. Can someone give me the correct aftermarket 02 sensor to purchase? The 4runner is a 2000 v6 automatic trans. Thanks in advance and any advice is appreciated.

I see that it's 234-9002 if you have the 3.4 engine, 4WD and an automatic transmission.

Same number if it's 2WD.

However, if it has a manual transmission, 234-9003.

By the way, on that vehicle the upstream sensor is, technically, an air fuel ratio sensor, not an O2 sensor.

Mass air flow (MAF) is on the airbox and is different from air/fuel (A/F) which is the upstream exhaust sensor (upstream is Sensor 1). Bank 1 is always the side where Cylinder 1 is which is actually the passenger side on a 4Runner, but, since there is only a single exhaust on third Gens, there is no Bank 2. Bank 1 is all you get for exhaust. Knock sensors, however do have Bank 1 and Bank 2 because there are two cylinder heads.

Replace the upstream exhaust (A/F) sensor. It is not an O2 sensor.
