Urban Runner Eclipse AVN2210 Replacement

I just purchased a 2008 4runner with the Urban Runner package. I love the vehicle aside from the factory installed Eclipse stereo. I tried looking at Crutchfield for a replacement Double Din but it does not list any known compatible options.

I'm looking at a Pioneer AVH-4400BH DVD Receiver to replace it.

Anyone have experience replacing the Eclipse? Will the stock dash kit work or will I need to replace the dash kit? What wire harness if any will I need?

I haven't taken the dash apart yet, but I'm assuming since the Eclipse came from the factory that the wire harness may be a bit different.

If you can find one for a decent price the Eclipse AVN726e is a drop in plug and play unit that will work as is with all the factory connections. They are pricey and pretty much only available on ebay. Ive been wanting one for years but have just made do with the factory unit. Someday...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Eclipse go out of business? I had my DD Eclipse stolen out of my Runner, and when looking to get a new one, that's what I was informed by several car stereo shops.

Now I have an Alpine INA-W900BT... Great unit!

Eclipse got out of the car stereo business. So no support for their existing head units. The maps on the existing head unit are from 2009 with no map updates available.

Yes there is still support and map updates through a 3rd party company. I purchased a AVN726E in May this year and was able to install a 2011 map pack.

Also they are still in the car stereo business, it's just that they built factory units for Toyota, Nissan etc instead of building aftermarket units.

Thanks, good info to know in case I stick with Eclipse. I think if I go with the Pioneer I just need to cut the Eclipse adapter and splice Pioneer adapter in.

Yah i'm not sure how the wiring is on the UrbanRunner. I needed a amp interface adapter (or something like that) to replace my stock HU and keep the jbl sound sys. but it seems like yours already has an aftermarket HU so maybe another Eclipse would be plug and play.

Yeah, I talked to an audio shop here this morning and he wasn't sure because it had been a couple years since he worked on an UrbanRunner but he thinks there is already an Eclipse adapter meaning it would be plug and play for another Eclipse.
