I'm not convinced of the 4Runner internals being superior either. Seems to be a lot of rhetoric repeated about them being made in Japan and are somehow better. I don't think I'd trust it without verifying. Seems like the price point of adding boost a rod upgrade would be insignificant anyway.

I was in sweetwater a couple weeks ago, saw a silver lifted, was that you? I was in white 04 lifted. Actually I will be in sweetwater today around 12-2 to drop something off to an employee.

V8Man, what's the story on your 04? It's supercharged, right? How long have you had it? any issues?
Does anyone have any figures on power output of the TRD system for the 4.7?
Wasn't me....mine is in my garage tore apart getting gears and selectable lockers.
I would think the 03-04 would be less susceptible to damage due to the lack of vvti. I would think throwing that into the mix would make things a lot more complicated from the tuning stand point.

The story is my new to me 04 has 58K on the clock and I cannot find a lot of true facts on the TRD supercharged 4Runners. I purchased it with some damage, its my new "keep me out of trouble" project.

I hear you there. Good luck with her. Those are some low miles for 04. If URD proceeds with production, I'm sure more information on both systems will start becoming easier to find.

Yes what I can tell from Carfax and Toyota owners website the truck has had regular service including a new timing belt and water pump 2,039 miles before it was wrecked. It spend most of it life in an airport hanger.

So not too much to report form URD. It's like Gadget said, there is still work to be done to fine tune the prototype. We were able to get the engine management software designed for the tundra 4.7 to work with my 4runner. URD's current focus is to be sure that their software is operating and managing the engine as it should, which we tested and it's looking good. We did some road tuning and I can tell you I felt noticeable gains from the adjustment they were making. I have a Volant intake and the software was able make corrections and tune it in. There was a sudden and noticeable increasing in power and responsiveness. I have URD's MAF calibrator and I will be going back next weekend to get a map made for my intake and well as the stock intake. I'll post updates for that in another thread later. As far as the supercharger system goes, I'd just be patient. URD is working on it. I's say it is looking promising.

When your up there, ask if they can provide any improvements in the TRD set up like new mapping or MAF for performance or reliability.

I think calling him would be your best bet there. He is working with the guy who was involved with the design of the TRD supercharger. I would think he could tell you quite a bit.:ear::blah:
You know I did not ask but I will try and remember too. I am thinking the 03-04 would be supported.
...you might want to remind me though. We will be tunning my truck so I will only have one thing on my mind... POWWWWAAARRRRR!!!
