USB Audio Input 2008 Factory Nav Unit

Hi All,

I have done a few searches in the forum and have found a few older posts but I am wondering if anyone knows of recent developments/new products that they might recommend?

I currently own an '08 Limited with a Factory Nav unit. It does have the 3.5mm audio input jack, however I would like to have the capability of USB audio input, from an Android phone, to play through the factory Nav unit and have the ability to control it, either through the steering wheel or the head unit. Bluetooth audio streaming would be a nice to have, but I would not want it to interfere with the factory bluetooth for phone calls.

It seems that a few years ago people liked either SpecUSA or Grom Audio, however they can get pricey by the time you add all of the auxiliary modules to the base module. I have googled my request but there are literally hundred of options, ranging from $25-250 and most of them have no reviews. Does anyone have any recommendations for a reasonably priced interface module that actually works?

Thanks in advance.

I wasn't going to comment due to your "reasonable price" comment, but that is sort of relative. The USAspec and Grom and MEdiabridge (yadda yadda yadda) all seem to be buggy. I haven't heard much experience either.

This product (about $400) integrates your phone with your 5th gen navigation unit. I have an iphone so the model is slightly different and with less features. Makes me want to get an android phone. Anyway...........

I consider it worthwhile with all the integration going on (read: very cool product).

That's almost exactly what I was looking for...that is very impressive. I think it would be even nicer if there was a wireless interface, say bluetooth, but now I am being picky lol.

Thanks for the reply.

From what I understand, a WIRED connection is best for sound. i have wireless (BT) music streaming in my other car and the sound isn't great (sounds "tinny"..... no deep bass, voice isn't good, etc etc). Plus, a wired connection is required if your phone screen is to appear on the NAV screen.

If you get it, let us know how it goes, post pics/vids........... I will if I get it.
