Yeah that's what I would imagine. I'm not sure how long the Lexus was there but it is a luxury Toyota so they are always in demand as well. All I know is that he walked in, it was priced somewhere around $29k. He lowballed the crap outta them at $19k. They obviously didn't accept so he left. Sure enough they called him back I think a few weeks later and accepted his offer lol. If I was you, I'd keep searching. I've never been the type of person to buy used cars from the dealership, I just don't see the value proposition with their insane markups. But to each their own. Thanks for the advice. Do you know how long the Lexus GS was on the lot? Part of me thinks this dealership knows that used 4R sell well here in my area and go quick. This car has been on the lot for only a few days, perhaps that's why they are stubborn with the price. Ugh.
High mileage is OK if PO has acd maintenance records.Wow, yeah, looking within 100 miles of Denver on Autotrader there's only seven V6 Sport/Limiteds. Add in V6 SR5's and it jumps to 29. All are 4WD, 2WD doesn't sell here. One could probly knock out 3/4's of them for high miles, unattractive CarFax. Tough find. I got lucky I guess, searched on Saturday specifically for a '05-'09 V8 Limited, went to Stevinson Toyota first thing Monday morning and it had just come out of service Saturday with a new steering rack, hadn't even been detailed yet. One owner local truck, had the Carfax on their website, had the timing belt/water pump replaced, 100k miles, they were asking full retail $18.5k and I paid it. I know how the game works, they'll wait for other buyers to come along before they drop the price. I gave a try to get them down, but they weren't budging so early in the selling process.
Agreed. That's why I emphasized, multiple times, knowing how to properly inspect a vehicle. Don't be noobs guys. But if done properly or by someone who knows what to look for, you can easily come away with a steal as many have done so. But gimme a t4r with a broken tail light for $5k less and I'm game lol.lots of sketchy sh*t can go on with salvage titles tho, so buyer SUPER beware. get as much info and documentation regarding the title as you can. if the buyer hems and haws and sounds a little sketchy, leave it alone.
Yup, it's crazy. I used to work for a guy who dealt with salvage cars and I would see some of the craziest things. A car with a bent rim would be declared salvage and on the other hand, I've seen cars burnt down to the frame with absolutely nothing left and it would still retain a clean title lol.Wow. A broken tail light from hail and buying a vehicle with a salvaged title are on complete opposite ends of the spectrum.
As others have said I wouldn't budge, and I apologize I didn't realized you were strictly doing v6. I figured v8 since that will have a higher resale since only new models carry just the v6. I would hold out until the perfect presents itself and wouldn't settle, after all you will be driving it for 100,000+ miles.Agreed, that looks like a very good buy, though I'm looking for a V6. Too bad I can't check it out nonetheless
On flip side, during the weekend I drove 200mi one way to check out a low mileage 4R Sport. Everything checked out and I proceeded with negotiations. I accepted my trade in value, but the dealership just wouldn't budge on the 4R's price. I estimate it was ~$2000 over priced based on current market/cargurus and I was willing to meet halfway between my initial offer and what they were proposing. I walked away, and they still wouldn't budge.
I called the next day, still no change. So I drove back tired, thinking I shouldn't have to over pay. Now today I'm having 2nd thoughts, but the idea of having to overpay for a used vehicle doesn't jive with me. Even my wife was saying to just a get a new 4R (though I'm partial to the 4G and I'm trying to stay within a budget).
Any ideas/thoughts?
Glad you joined, I guess I have always entertained the idea of possibly selling mine? haha.. . .but really just wait it out, it took me about a year and half.I'm in Bakersfield Ca and have been searching since the beginning of the year. Every time I find what I want it has been sold! :fencing:
Been looking for a 2006-2009 v6 4x4 with moon roof in any color but white and gold. :tea: I finally decided to sign up to this forum to vent some frustration!
But as he stated hail is definitely doable and visible, once you are start getting into collisions and flood damage is when I walk away, but hail is just visual.lots of sketchy sh*t can go on with salvage titles tho, so buyer SUPER beware. get as much info and documentation regarding the title as you can. if the buyer hems and haws and sounds a little sketchy, leave it alone.
Actually they are not, I have been eying a CL ad in Omaha for a 2015 4Runner with 18k miles and a salvage title due to hail(as shown in the pics). They replaced the windshield, collected their insurance check and now selling it at a steep discount. And ironically the only thing broken, but still functional is the driver side rear tail lamp, well that ant it is absolutely riddled with dents and looks like a golfball, but mechanically and the interior are perfectly fine. So I wouldn't say they are opposite, hail damage is exactly what creates a salvaged vehicle?Wow. A broken tail light from hail and buying a vehicle with a salvaged title are on complete opposite ends of the spectrum.
going to look at a 2004 V8 T4R today with 128k miles..He will take $7600 for it
Just wondering if you would entertain this, or what is deterring you from this?
