So after upgrading to the duratracs, I still haven't replaced my spare with an 265/75/16 tire..

so I stopped by my local americas tire and lucky.. they have an pair of 265/75/16 in bfg AT.. but downside is, is in load range E though..

here is the kicker.. is about $50 an tire and is almost brand new.. it came off of an 3/4 ton truck cause the guy felt vibration and when I talk to my guy.. he stated is out of round..

my question is, should I go for it? is $50 an almost brand new bfg a/t but downside is out of round..

thanks.

It's only a spare, meant to get you off the trail or somewhere to get a new tire or a tire fixed. For $50, done and done. Mount it my yourself, fill it with air and put it under the truck :)

As a spare it probably wont be that bad if you put it on the rear axle. I had a bad set of duratracs and put the worst 2 in the rear. I could go about 80-85 with the tires like this. Before identifying the worst 2 and putting them in the rear it was vibrating like hell around 60.

I would get it for a spare at $50.

Not trying to thread jack here. But I am. Haha. Anyone know what kind of issues come in to play with running a 225/75r15 spare with the rest being 285/75r16? I'm trying to decided if I should toss my old spare and pick up a 16 inch steel wheel and mount a crappy 33 to it.

A full size spare is always your best option but if you find yourself needing to use your stock spare, just run it on the rear. Think of it as a donut. Better than nothing.

x3 - if it's just for a spare, it doesn't matter if it's bright pink and triangle shaped, it just needs to get you off the trail and to a tire shop.
