Using DAC switch to deactivate VSC etc

I've been planning on installing the VSC bypass thanks to [MENTION=63211]emelianenkov[/MENTION] post here: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-g...trac-abs-without-damaging-factory-wiring.html I ordered a daystar switch and ran the wiring etc but while looking at my truck today, I made the decision to try something different. I know I'll never use DAC, I don't see the point. My goal is to move the DAC switch to the blank next to the CDL switch and use it to complete the VSC bypass mod. That way everything there looks factory. I will then add my daystar switches for lights or whatever to the blanks in the center console where the DAC switch was. Those of you with mild OCD might understand why I'm doing this.

I've been going back and forth with [MENTION=55855]zopperman[/MENTION] (super helpful guy) because I don't get wiring but I'm working on it. Basically what I need is someone, anyone, that either has a FSM or knows which of the 4 pins on the factory DAC switch I need to wire the splice from the under hood harness into to finish the VSC mod. I know there's a lot of talented, knowledgeable guys here, someone hopefully has an idea.

Would this info. be on the Chilton manual? I purchased a new one and haven't even gotten the shrink wrap off of it.

My guess is that it would be in there. The problem is I know what I'm trying to do and how to physically do it but not how to do it or what to look for in the manuals that would let me finish this. If you have a section that tells what the dac switch/harness is wired to that would be helpful.

Ok so thanks to [MENTION=25740]awdjunkies[/MENTION] [MENTION=86678]ebg18t[/MENTION] and [MENTION=55855]zopperman[/MENTION] for the assistance.

I was able to do this successfully and I'm pretty excited about it. Credit to Zak for the illustration on this picture I took of the factory DAC switch.



The yellow lines are for the LED in the switch, the red are what control on/off for the DAC system, those are the two pins to use for this. All you have to do is solder wires to the top two pins and run them as you would normally to do the VSC bypass under the hood. That thread is linked in the first post in this thread. Here's a video of the result.

Might not be a big deal to some of you guys but I'm pretty proud.

I just performed this mod and I was unsuccessful with my first attempt. I am also using a factory trac-off switch (from a FJ), but I am only using one of the switch pins (outlined in red) on your picture. I only have the one wire coming from the 12 pin connector from the ECU, so that's all I used. What "second" wire are you referring to in your post and in the Youtube video?

Did you also "ground" the other switch pin (the last one outlined in red)? Since I'm using a momentary switch and not a on/off toggle, I thought I didn't need to use a ground - since we're only shorting out the signal coming from the ECU?

I am that close... I just need a few words of wisdom to complete this damn mod! :)
 
[MENTION=7627]markaidan[/MENTION] if you look at the first page in the link of the "how-to" post, scroll down to post #7 by keitht253, in the last picture you can see there are two gray wires spliced off of the one white/black factory wire. Those gray wires are the ones I tied into the factory switch. Since you went a different route by tapping the ECU, I'm not sure how that would work.
 
You know you can just go back about 3 inches and cut the oem wires off from the center console. tape up the cut wires back there. then use the wires and connector connected to the switch. i too know i will never ever use the DAC switch, so i have it unplugged and in my center console. in that area where the 3 switches are i did this, two for my 2 sets of ditch lights and 1 for my reverse lgihts.



if you ever wanted to go back you can just reattached the harness you cut off since its color coded.
 
anyone have a pic that shows the schematic for the switches like DAC or the traction control pin schematic to show where i would wire what for a VSC mod? Would love to use the traction control switch to turn it off. Or even the DAC
