What do you thing you are getting with these exotic (in name only) oils? It isn't as if there are any quantifiable gains over regularly changed national brand synthetics or even generic conventional oil. You can argue over your nonsense Bob's data where you compare minute chemical analysis differences, but the reality is that data is meaningless unless you are running some ultra high performance F1 motor.
It cracks me up to see the efforts people put into overthinking motor oil.
I don't think you were adressing me specifically, but the reason I am doing oil analysis right now is because I bought the T4R used with 105K in December and I needed to know the state of the engine and to establish the best oil change interval. I'm hoping to work up to 15K on Mobil 1 EP, but I have to hit several wickets before I get there, namely extending and testing at 5k, 7.5k, 10k, 12.5k, and 15k. That's the plan anyway. And I totally agree with you; Mobil 1, Pennzoil Platinum, etc should be more than adequate in any T4R engine. No need to go further than your closest Walmart to source your oil.
