Actually, I wasn't "hating" at all. First, I said you drove 2 sweet cars. 2nd, they're not your cars anyway, so doesn't matter. The bank holds the title in their name. :bigok: And I've already said you're the kind to own a Breitling.

(On topic) I understand that some have their preferences towards the V8 and I respect that. But your only argument has been that the "V8 is baller". I'm open to debates (on topic), but at least bring something to the table.

The V6 is a great engine - economical, potent, powerful, reliable.

The V8 is a great engine - smooth, very powerful, effortless motivation, reliable

Ceteris Peribus the V8 is a better engine, unfortunately real life is full of variables - need to tow or not? if so, heavy trailer or light? rich and gas prices don't matter or paycheck to paycheck and it matters bigtime? hometown hilly terrain or mostly flat? etc etc.

So in the real world, the V8 isn't better than the V6, and the V6 isn't better than the V8. What you need is all that matters, and you're the only one that knows what you need. Remember to catagorize needs and wants into seperate areas - a trickier thing to do than it sounds.

Here's the info I have on my 2007 Limited:

V6: 266 ft lb @ 4000 rpm

V8: 306 ft lb @ 3400 rpm

I agree that there is not much difference, and I an NOT arguing with you at all, but if I could find a torque-map for each engine and overlay them, I believe that the V8 would make the 266 ft lb's of the V6 around 3000 rpm or so.

Okay, fair enough. I was talking about the '03 and '04 models (remember I said early 4th gen) when the HP rating was a bit higher for the V6 than the V8. Either way, the max torque values are within a few hundred RPMs, which is a testament to the engineering of the V6 engine.

Really? Plenty of V6 guys have towed 5000 lbs without any issues. Toyota must feel that the V6 engine can handle 5000 lbs since they rated it to do so. And of course I'm sure that you realize that they rate the vehicle even lower than it is truly capable for safety reasons. That said, I wouldn't hesitate to tow 5000 lbs with ANY 4th generation 4Runner.

But all else equal, I don't think I'd make the claim that one is better than the other because they both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Yeah, there have been some 3.4L V6 guys that have towed 5k pounds (3.4L's are also rated to tow that much). I guess it came out wrong when I typed that. I meant I would not prefer to tow 5k pounds with the V6. I also live in the rockies, so take that into account.

Anyway, I must say that even at 4k pounds, manuvering was sketchy. I couldn't even imagine trying to go down a mountain pass. If you're going to be going down a steeper grade, be sure to get a proper trailer brake set up.
