hey guys wht exactly do i need to pull the v6 starter on a pick up its kinda a sercet misson at night so i need to know ahead of time please and thank you

Why exactly are you stealing a starter? There are much faster ways to disable a vehicle.

not stealing lol a freind of mines went out and she asked me to fix it but the problem is that her grandpa lives right behind her and he owns the the truck so i have to go up at night when hes asleep and pull out take it and get it check/replaced and put it in the next night and it doesnt help that shes pregant either

How do you know the starter itself is shot?

i dont yet i agree to rebulid it but i still need to get it out inless its the trigger wire

or the solenoid contacts, or the ignition, or the battery, or a ground strap...

Good luck. They are tight in there. Might want to to wait till day light. Youll have to pull the pass wheel off, and take off the access panel to get it out.

Its a TIGHT fit.

Wait wait wait. This sounds sketchy. If the grandfather owns the truck, it is his right to determine the course of action.

It sounds like she is trying to keep this from him, which is NOT cool. Why else would you need to sneak up at night? This sounds dumb. Sorry.

Talk to the grandfather and ask him what HE wants done to HIS truck. Ownership is powerful and if she doesn't actually own it, you don't have a right to do a damn thing to it without HIS permission.

I get that you are trying to help a friend, but why not get a REAL lay of the land first?

9 times out of 10 from my experience with Toyotas for the last 16 yrs, the starter contacts are worn down and not making contact when trying to start the vehicle.

Just ask the grandfather if he'd let you fix it for minimal cost which is like $15 - $25 for the new contact kit, vs paying $200 - $300 for a new starter.

He's happy, she's happy, then everybody's happy.

ok i talked to grandpa he said fix it so im good on that but he wants it fixed at her house which is a ways from me so wht do i need i dont wanna take my whole tool box just whats nessacary

ten mm socket or fender panel
jack to take tire off
lug wrench
some extensions how long?
socket for starter bolts 14mm?
battery terminal wrench and some wrenchs for the starter leads which are wht size
