V8 4x4 owners with borla/gibson exhausts near San Diego or Las Vegas?

Bad smell?

Who here actually has the smell? I live in SoCal, I have the rear window down 90% of the time. Stuck in traffic or normal highway speeds its not noticed. I'm not calling anyone a liar, I just don't smell it. What is the difference in my 05 sport v8 than the next guy? My BMW driving, dog-in-purse fiancee loves my 4runner. I'm sure she would say something if she could smell something when she cheats on her Bimmer with the runner.

I used to be able to smell it any time I gassed it...which was often. With the windows down or with them up. I can't explain why, it's just the way it was. I put on my Gibson exhaust in Feb and I still smell it but only if the rear window is down and I have to really be punching the gas. The Gibson setup has the tip pointing more towards the ground but it still exits straight out the back. Nothing you cant get a local shop to bend. Or i could do it myself and really screw things up.

In traffic or at normal highway (cruising) speeds I never smelled it.

When we first bought the truck I noticed it quite a bit. My wife was like "what the heck is that smell!?!" I swear the smell has gotten much better though after removing the hydrocarbon filter. (either that or I've just gotten used to it?) Now I rarely notice the smell unless I floor it.

Normal everyday driving I almost never notice it unless the back window is down and the wind is blowing toward the cab.
