Nice work. Intrigued to see how you finish the CC swap from switched to resistance type beyond the clock spring. Keep the pictures coming. Also, are you running an extra wire to the spiral connector? Horn plus two CC wires- looks like you have four.
I'm planning to add a stereo remote to my '98 wheel and swapping to the later CC (from 3 wire set up to 2) will free up a much needed connection on the clock spring for the remote wiring. Subscribed!

It does not have this feature. It is column shift with push button od on the shifter. There is a separate switch to put it in to 1st gear but that is in the center counsel.

No Sport shifting tranny on this swap...

Oh.. Well that stinks.


Another question, how are you connecting the a750 to the 4runner shifter? The a750 uses a cable correct?

Unbolted the Cable operated lever from the tranny and bolted on the 4runner lever. I had to shorten the linkage rod from the shifter to the tranny lever by about 4" because the tranny was moved further to to rear.

The only problem you have is the ecu for the 4runner need 3 wire for the cruise to work. The tundra only need 2. For your swap to work, you would need to get some type of resistance translator to produce some type of a switched signal so the ECU can operate.

I had to use the 2 wire CC stalk because that is the signal the Tundra ECU needs to operate.

That's funny I just pm'd you seconds before your response. Yes I understand the diff between the two types but just curious how you actually achieve it!
Incidentally, the later 99+ T4R uses two wires also if that helps.
Did you run another wire to the clock spring or just 3?

A little update. I did not get a chance to work on Jame's truck last weekend, as I went to NY for a family event.

Anywho, I am trying to get the fuel mileage figured out on my truck.

I am running 33" tires so my speedometer is off by a little. At 55 my phone says I am going 59.

So I am getting about 250 miles to a tank (about 15 gallons).

What is my real mileage?

Jame's 4runner is a 2000 and it is definitely 3 wires.

The Tundra is two wire, so I have one wire left over.

The 2001 and 2002 4runner is drive by wire and it might use a resistance type CC stalk but I did not look it up or research it.
 
Did some work this weekend. I am try to get this done for an August pick up.

James had an elocker diff installed before I got the truck but it is 4:30 gears while the front was 4:10. So he shipped me a 4:30 front diff and i installed it yesturday.

Replace the the inner Tie Rod end . This is how you check to see if it is wore out.

It needs a 1 5/8" wrench for removal.

Well I must have been asleep or spent too much time working and not on the forum if Connor already knows that this project will be sold.

I guess the next logical answer would be why? Already have a buyer, and just acting as a broker?

:wink2: John trust me, one of the worst things I ever did was sell (sold in 2006) my 98 back when I was on my JAOS kick. Sold it to a guy I worked with who then sold it to his ex-wife who still enjoys it to this day. I've tried to buy it back but she's too happy so...:cry2:

98 was nothing compared to the 00 however; I'd wrap it around a tree first, trust me:lookout:

Lol, it's not for sale. No one would appreciate nearly as much as I do (I think:lol:). When it gets back I just want to wrap it up (bumpers, sleep system, etc) and do some overdue Overlanding.
