That is a good idea. It would help the cats be more efficient too.
Just so you are aware, there was some dicussion on the Subaru forums that wrapping the Downpipe caused intense heat to build up/remain inside the pipe and thus could cause the pipe to not last as long. It was just a discussion and no one that I could find had it happen. The wrap I used had to be soaked in water, then wrapped, then I sprayed it with a heat resistant coating. I let mine dry for 3 days before installing it. It did, at least for me keep the underhood temps down a lot. My downpipe was stainless steel.
I don't know if it is worth wrapping the cats (especially if they are not completely round in shape) unless they are close to the fuel lines as well, that's up to you. They make a muffler/cat heat shield for those. Thermotec.com (under products). For the fuel lines the Thermo sleeve is what they have. Hope that helps...
