V8 conversion

Just so you are aware, there was some dicussion on the Subaru forums that wrapping the Downpipe caused intense heat to build up/remain inside the pipe and thus could cause the pipe to not last as long. It was just a discussion and no one that I could find had it happen. The wrap I used had to be soaked in water, then wrapped, then I sprayed it with a heat resistant coating. I let mine dry for 3 days before installing it. It did, at least for me keep the underhood temps down a lot. My downpipe was stainless steel.
I don't know if it is worth wrapping the cats (especially if they are not completely round in shape) unless they are close to the fuel lines as well, that's up to you. They make a muffler/cat heat shield for those. Thermotec.com (under products). For the fuel lines the Thermo sleeve is what they have. Hope that helps...

Either way, turbos produce a ton more heat than n/a motors

For those whose V8 swap addiction is borderline rabid, I can set up a web based camera outside Singtoe's house for real live up to date progress reports. I don't know his family would like the leering eyes of fellow T4R members though.

I'm a little late to the party. Unbelievable! I have an 01 4Runner 4x, an 04 Sequoia 4x and a 04 Tundra 2x. I am used to working on all of them separately, but this combines them all.

Yep. That was sold several months ago. Funny Story. I bought it for $500 (broken timing belt = bent valve) and was going to stick a 2jz-gte motor in it.

While I was looking for 2JZ-GTE front clip, Craigslist popped up a 944 being parted out. I Picked up motor for $250. Fixed it and sold it for $3k.

Anywho, Today was a beautiful day. To bad I worked to dark thirty.

Need help

This is the challange for all of you geniuses out there.

Since I am utilizing the Sequoia Transfer case, I will have to make a new Electrical relay box to replace the Transfer case ECM.

This is what i know.

The Transfer case is the same as the 01-02 4runner.

It uses a servo motor to actuate the front drive shaft. (AWD)

It uses the same servo to further lock the center diff. (4WD)

I need it relayed so that when i push AWD button and Center diff lock button, it works the actuator.

Do what you can, I am too tired to think about it. Thanks and may God speed.

That hurts my brain. Get a solid axle and an old school t-case so you can get rid of all the garbage. Lock the hubs, pull the lever… Done! Then you can make a pretty keychain out of all that needless wiring. See how smart I am:nerd:

Today's progress was weak.

I had a busy ass day at work.

Anywho, Here is a picture of my hoopty on 255's with my 2" body lift.

I have 265 AT's to roll and a set of 285's on steelies for special occasions.

I hooked my AC up today.

The AC Pump is on the drivers side while on the 5VZ, it is on the passenger side. I had rearranged the plumbing on the AC condenser so that i can utilize the 2UZ hoses.
