V8 Fan Clutch Nut

So I noticed that I am missing one of the four nuts that fasten the clutch to the pully. It is possible that the person that did the timing belt a while ago lost it... :T

I got a new nut from Toyota but I cant for the life of me get it on. I can't even get the threads to catch even a little bit. I tried with my hand jammed way down with tried to turn the nut slowly with my finger tips, just trying to get the threads to catch.

The part number I got was 90029-07010.

Any tips? I'm pretty confident that the part number is correct. It is a flared nut and is black in comparison to the silver ones already on the fan clutch.

Had the same issue on my V6.. the parts fische gave me the wrong part number and the nut was slightly too small. Went to home depot and found a replacement.

ah, i tried a bunch of various nuts from HD. I couldn't find one that would match the thread pitch.

Do you recall the specific nut specs? Did you get a flared nut?

Yes flared nut / flanged nut in the drawers, not in the bins.

M8-1.25 was the size I found, however I would not expect that to be the same on the V8,

ah yeh, one i got was a m8 1.25 but didn't thread on correctly.

I would remove one of the existing nuts and see if it will thread on the stud that's missing a nut, if it won't then you have damaged threads and you need a tap to clean up the threads, if it does then take that nut and match it up on HD thread size display.
