V8 Gas milage after exhaust change

Flowmaster 40 on V8

I got a Flowmaster 40 installed with a resonator delete on my 2003 V8. It sounds good and doesn't drone too much. It s loudest around 2000 rpms but you can still easily have a conversation. My mpg went down in town cause of the lead foot syndrome you can get when hearing it the first few months but interstate probably went up a tad. I also put in a K&N hi-flow air filter the same week and even that made a difference of how it ran. I believe install and everything was like $300 if I can remember correctly...Best of luck!

Actually talked to keith at Dirty Deeds, he's local here in San Diego. He didn't recommend the stainless because we have great weather and don't see snow.

He quoted $150 for just the muffler and said it should improve performance if I can keep off the gas. He quoted like $470 for everything installed which seems high for a muffler install with side exit.

A bit late to the thread... regardless:

Keith sent me a moderate aggressive muffler in August.

I would say that my milage has dropped since because I drive it like I stole it almost all the time. I used to doddle along like an old grandma in the hopes no one would notice the terrible sound the cracked OEM headers would make.

Now: SEE YA SUCKAS! BWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

If I kept it on the down-low and took it easy, then it would probably get better fuel economy [than on the OEM setup].

But where's the fun in that?

Keith's BA Mufflers don't really sound like anything else I've ever ridden around in. My truck sounds like a V8 supercar out of Forza or something. Everyone agrees it sounds awesome, and to me, the noise it makes is visceral, organic, and dynamic. I think what I'm trying to say is youtube videos don't entirely do it justice.

If I could do it again I would have gotten a more tame model than the moderate-aggressive; maybe mild-aggressive? It'd be nice to have a volume knob some days.
