Your description says it's entirely bolt on... really? No welding required to fit this to a T4R?

YEP, just replying again because everyone still asks me this question. It's a good question, and I love saying it's entirely BOLT ON!

Complete bolt on. Only took 20 min to put it on as well, after cutting the rest with a sawzall.

Seriously? I figured any exhaust retrofit would require welding... Well that makes this a bit more of an interesting deal... :flamethrwoer2:

No worries, no welding, nothing. Now, many have installed this right in their driveway, no issues and it's not hard. But, if you don't feel like doing it, or just don't have the time to mess around in this heat, you can bring to any exhaust shop and they shouldn't charge more than $50 to put on. Simple.

First thoughts; Sounds Exactly what i was looking for, Sounds like a V8 should without rattling your teeth. Deep tone and loud when you step on it.

Questions about Gibson part numbers

Hello!
Went to the Gibson website for my 06 sport 4.7 2wd it shows, 2 part numbers.

618708 and 618815.

I want ss.

It appears the 618708 is cheaper by $100 on Amazon. The seller was amazon.com.

Does anyone know what the differences are? I read the Gibson website and couldn’t see any differences. I even called Gibson, they told me that the 618708 is an older part number.

I ordered it from Amazon since they only had 1 left.

It will be here in 2 days.

I installed my Gibson exhaust today and was just a little but disappointed. I was expecting a deeper rumble sound considering I have the V8 under the hood. I guess riding around in my Corvette tainted my expectation. On a plus side, people talked about the drone being unbearable...., in my opinion a drone does not exist.

Reviving an old thread as an FYI.

The system I installed (non-SS Gibson, my post with video is earlier in this thread) is rotted out bad. I got 3 1/2 years out of it, which is a little disappointing. I know I didn’t go SS, but 3 1/2 years is not long, and it started leaking in January! So, really it lasted 3 years.

I have ordered a cheap Walker replacement, as the 03 is on its last year....the frame is just not good. This exhaust and some brake line work is all I’m going to do to it.

I'm sure I can work something out to help if they didn't ship the walker yet. I've been a dealer for GIbson for over 10 years and they usually will do whatever I ask them Shoot me a text or call me at 717-319-2100

Also, The gibson systems to me have no drone at all. It's a nice deep throaty sound that the truck should have come with from the factory. It's not loud but sounds much better than stock.

Jason, thank you for the offer. The new system is due in today. I’m just looking to save $$ at this point, and the Walker system is less than $200 shipped.

I loved the sound of the Gibson system, and would definitely try another one in SS if the truck was going to be around longer. That said, it does have a drone from 1800-2100. I got used to it, but the wife didn’t.

I have the Stainless Gibson Cat back on a V8, and it does have a drone in that range. The drone does not appeal to my wife either. For weekend trips, we use a resonated exhaust tip (DC Sports), which quiets it done a little, and use the OEM exhaust tip locally.

She has a factory TRD Stainless on her daily Tacoma, which does not have a drone.

Sounds and drives like a totally different truck. I've never heard the engine bay so quiet. Behind it is another story entirely, however!

I do believe the EPA has cracked down and the Y-pipe is no longer available, nor is the O2 sim.

I finally got around to installing mine on a 2004 V8. The 3" tip is sitting on my bumper and nearly contacts the hitch also. Did I miss something in the install or is there a better way to tuck it out of the way? I could smell the plastic bumper cover heating up pretty good on a short initial drive—I know the obvious answer is to just remove the tip, but are there any other solutions I'm missing here?

Best way to fit it is get the tip area loose - hold the tip where you want it and adjust the hanger to match.

See that exhaust hanger by the tip - have your shop adjust that by either shortening it - or replacing it with a longer one. When deciding placement, don't forget about the hitch receiver, if equipped. You want it away from both bumper and receiver.
