V8 t case actuator

I have a bad actuator for sure. No 4Lo, no center diff lock. I was wondering if anyone has had a list made up for replacement actuators. Are they the same as the v6 ones? Trying to find a cheap replacement and didn’t know if there was a parts cross reference for them between Lexus or other model Toyotas that have the two actuator rods. This isn’t a DD so pulling the car and splitting isn’t an issue. I just didn’t want to spend oem money on something that gets used rarely. Thanks

try playing with it a couple times. i know when i got mine with 143k miles on it, the first time i went to put into 4lo it did not engage at all. it does take a few extra seconds for it to kick in as well, and if you dont let it do its thing it will grind gears on you.

didn't help my switch was broken as well but once i replaced the switch, 4hi took a couple attempts for it to kick into gear. and i remember my 4lo not wanting to engage at all, until i kick it on a couple times on and off.

since than at least once a month, i go through the gears and go around the block.

I’ve done all the tricks listed on this website short of screwing with the guts of the actuator. I had seen some double rod actuators listed for $200 they fit v6 4Runner and v8 sequaoias that I wanted to try but wasn’t for sure if they cross referenced to the v8 4Runner. Good thing is I have fullltime 4wd, but sucks that I can’t lock center diff off-road. That makes 4wd next to useless because VSC stays on along with all the other nannies.

your best bet is sourcing a complete unit T-case with a functional actuator. It's not uncommon to have folks damage the actuator taking it off or putting on a tcase.

It doesn't take much time to drop the t-case. I did it myself with only a few tools..

If you wanted to put in a bit more elbow grease but spend less money I would highly recommend looking into the fj tcase swap... no more having to worry about a 20 year old actuator failing on you.

I guess the FJ swap is something to look into, I thought I remember reading that you need new driveshafts though. That would be a little more money
