After watching an episode of Extreme 4x4 the other night I decided to install a vacuum gauge. They talked about how keeping an eye on your engine's vacuum can help with fuel efficiency & with my 3.slo I sure can use some extra MPGs. Basically the higher you keep the vacuum the better. Gives you a good idea how hard your motor is working.
I installed a gauge & its working great (& yes that's a spray can lid being used as a housing). I was wondering what is considered normal for my truck (see my sig). During a test drive I noticed the following results...
15 in Hg - idling, vehicle at a stop
5 in Hg - light acceleration
0 in Hg - floored
10 in Hg - 35 mph on the flat
25 in Hg spike - foot off the accelerator, vehicle decelerating
Does that sound about right?
