Valve cover gasket leak

I've been able to smell burning oil when I stop my 4runner. So opening the hood I see a light mist of white smoke coming from the back side of the engine. It's not leaking all the way to the ground yet, so I guess that's good. My question is, how hard would it be for me to replace the valve cover gaskets myself and how long should a project like that take? Or should I take it into a garage and have a pofessional do it? I'm not scared to take things apart, I'm just worried about having to readjust thing. Thanks again!

depends on how mechanically inclined you are. On my scale its about 9 out of 10, but i'm not a mechanic either. Have you tried simply tightening down on the valve cover bolts? They do have a tendency to loosen over time. Not tight, I think 10lbs is the required torque, but when mine was leaking oil I reach back and could turn the bolt with my finger, so might wanna check that.
